four nines
I ended up buying a G17 Gen6. Here it is with my existing 9mm’s. Top left to right then bottom left to right: Springfield XD sub-compact. Great everyday carry shown with the 10-round carry mag and a 16-round double stack with finger rest. That finger rest sure helps when shooting. Next is a Sig P226 with a 10-round mag. I have some 30-round mags for it but they stick so far out they are not practical. Bottom left is the new G17 with a 17-round double stack. To its right is a Beretta M9 with a 15 round magazine.
I’ve never liked Glocks because they dont fit my hand however this Gen6 fits my hands better than all the others.
I’ll buy some 33 rounder Glock mags. Not necessarily for the G17 and more for the Henry Homesteader which is on order at the local gun shop.

I have a 9mm or three, but prefer 45s or 40s in semi Autos, or 38/357 revolvers.
However, 9mm ammo is plentiful and usually fairly affordable as long as the world situation doesn't place it in high demand. It's also usually comparably low recoil and very accurate in the right gun. Can make a great DC gun with modern self defense ammo as well.
It can be an excellent choice, especially for new shooters.
I am just old school I guess, or maybe just... Old.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Wonderful lineup of 9’s. To me there’s just something about an M9 that is so pleasing to the eye.

You got that right. Mine is marked with the correct 65490 nomenclature.

Good for you!! I picked up a Glock want-to-be (Stoeger STR-9MC), a few months back. For the most part, I like it. The only thing that may be a negative is the backstrap may dig in the palm some, after a few rounds. But, it may do the trick, while using in cold weather. Nevertheless, it does shoot nice!

Shooting in the cold would be important around here.GFK wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2026 5:56 amGood for you!! I picked up a Glock want-to-be (Stoeger STR-9MC), a few months back.
