CCW Insurance

Post by GFK » Wed Jun 03, 2026 5:39 pm

May not be a thought or a concern, but I thought that I would pass this on. I went with SecondCall Defense (https://gununiversity.com/concealed-carry-insurance/). I should not to choose such a thing. But, I should not have to lock my doors either. On paper, I like the product: whether at home, in the woods or out and about, it seems to have you covered. It only offer 3 levels. The difference is the amount of liability protection. Customer service is not as responsive as I would like. However, the 24/7 emergency line is pretty responsive; I suspect that is the most important part. Nevertheless, I will see how things go.

I don't think they offer it in NY. A friend said he tried to get it, but it was not offered in NY.

I have US Law Shield. Similar benefits as GFK shared about SecondCall. Also with US LawShield the premiums never increase as long I stay current. CCW insurance is banned in New York state, New Jersey and Washington state.

U.S. LawShield is what got my attention. I was in a LGS, and there was advertisement about it. Because of upfront money provided during a covered situation and liability protection, I leaned toward CCW Safe and SecondCall Defense. Due to its simpler structure (all 3 plans cover anywhere: CCW, home or even hunting), I went with SecondCall. Also, I like the part that no money is returned, win or lose.

I find it interesting that NY, NJ and WA has banned liability insurance. It seemed the states want people to experience hardship, if they are forces to use a firearm in the defense of themselves or others.

Those states are afraid these policies would be used by malicious actors as insurance against intentional criminal acts, by falsely claiming self defense.
