Hard decision to make....
I was talking to my 95 year old brother who is doing well for his age living in a retirement facility but in his own cottage. His wife died 10 years ago and we were discussing how to manage my living with on my own after 50 years with my wife. At my age 72 he doesn't think it a good idea to be going to my place in the country/woods by myself. He thinks I should sell it and add the money to my retirement funds and all of this is a good idea as anything could happen to me down there. Or I can scale it back and go on a weekend day with my son and he can help me with cutting the grass and a bit of shooting too. Just things to really think about as I age! There is a property that joins part of mine and my neighbor told me that person would like to buy my property when I sell and I could still use it to shoot on. Things to think about!

I understand. I'm 85 and the thing that keeps me going is working on the place. I think if I went into a place like that
I would die. Just me. I did some flower bed work today and I'm sore as hell, but it was good for me in the long run.
We're all different my friend.

I’m going for quality of years and not quantity. I’ve been posting about adding on to my house so I can live totally on the first floor. Plus the new bathroom will be totally ADA. That and the new addition will be separate yet connected to the main house. It will enable me to live here and have a live-in caretaker.
Whatever you do make sure it’s what you want and not just something people think you should do.

People ask what I would do with our farm if Miss Tina should pass first. I have my woodworking, leather, knife hobby shop here, two ranges, and twenty one acres. It's quiet and private here. I can work in the shops at midnight if I like and no one cares. I have both my rifle and pistol range right here. I'll stay. I can bush hog the fields to keep them neat. But, I'd do them over a week rather than spend one whole day like Miss Tina does now.
As long as I can use the shop and ranges, I'll enjoy the place. It ours, and will be ours after she's gone. Tina says the same.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.
