The gang leaves for Madison at noon today. We are staying two nights. We have our tickets for the first game and after both games end they sell the final game’s tickets.

I’ll be wearing this costume.

The costume arrived just before we left. I opened the package and tried it on last night. It’s really cheaply made and I’m going to look like a dork. Not that that will stop me. Tip-off in about four hours.

We lost in a heartbreaker.

It was a big-time event for the kids playing in a televised game in a 17,000 seat arena.

We really didn’t lose by being beaten. We just didn’t make the fields goals. We ended up out-rebounding them, out free-shooting, out three-pointers and even taking more field goals. We lost because a lot of our field goals just didn’t sink. Another inch one way on a dozen misses and we would have trounced them.

Good games and good times have nothing to do with winning. It's sports. There are always winners -- and those who might have been winners if things went "another inch one way". Congratulations, PHS. Well done.

It’s was really a cheap outfit. I wore just the hat and belt with my school pirate shirt. The gang was talking about paying a few hundred for a Hollywood movie outfit that I could wear to all the games.

Being in Madison for three days reminds me of how much I love living in the country. Watch for a Madison review thread in the next few days.

It takes even less time in a population center for me.

Me, too.

Though all of CT is basically a huge population center, I live alone in a quiet, forested, small town and I very rarely travel more than fifteen miles from home. The nearest city is small and is also a college town with lots of restaurants and just 12 miles from home; I meet a childhood friend there regularly for lunch.

I just replaced the battery in my 2008 car because I drive so little that it would drain sitting in the garage if I left it unused for a just few days. I wasn't sure if it was actually dead or just wasn't getting enough exercise, so for the last couple of months, I'd connect the 2amp charger when I knew I had no plans to leave home for a while. I finally gave in and just bought a new one. Duh!

My basketball season came to an end yesterday. Gonzaga lost to Texas in the Round of 32 in the NCAA championship. Been a rough year for the Zags after losing the leading scorer to injury mid season. They played very uninspired yesterday and I feel they beat themselves more than Texas beat them. Frustrating but I have months to get over it. I told my wife that there would be no yelling at the TV until football season starts.
