Had to wake up my ol' Bulldog 45 shooter!
I brought this pup along on my recent range trip with the 45 Colts since he is a 45 Colt and have not shot it in a while. The Charter Arms Bulldog XL and while some folk a bit shy of shooting the light weight 45 DA shooter it felt fine in my two hands doing some quick point shooting from 20 ft. typical self defense range. I was very happy with the hits shooting my MB Bullets 255 gr. SWC over 8 gr.of BE-86. Picture shows 2 five shot rounds with two hits in a tight ragged hole! I do carry it in my rotation of small revolvers.

Pretty nice shooting there.
Never shot any BE-86, how does it compare to unique in recoil?

Recoil about the same as it is very close to Unique burn rate...just a touch slower. It meters more consistently than Unique plus you can still find it locally. A good sub for Unique!

One of my shop mates while on active duty in the Corps swore by his Pug in 44 Special. He carried it everywhere. I ran into him years later, both having transferred to new duty stations, as the Corps was prone to do. I jokingly asked if he still carried "The Ol' Bulldog?" He grinned and touched lightly behind his right hip, " What Else. "
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Good stuff!
Looks like you and that Bulldog can still get the job done.

That dog may bark but it’s a controlled bark for sure.
