A few milestone

Post by 220 » Wed Mar 04, 2026 5:11 pm

Friends daughter posted a couple of milestones playing for University Kentucky in their most recent game.
Went past 1000 minutes of court time for the season averaging 32 minutes per game.
Broke the Kentucky record for most 3's in a season, a teammate broke the record in the 1st half, with 6 3 pointers for the match Millie went past her and at the end of the game they are tied with 86 a piece and both shooting above .360 for the season.
UK also posted their biggest ever post season win margin.
Her parents flew out of Australia last week so were courtside for the match.

7 losses in the last 11 regular season games saw UK finish at 22-9 and drop to 6th in the SEC and 16th nationally in the seedings hopefully they can find the form that saw them sitting at 18-2 mid January and #6 ncaa ranking.

Another good win for UK 76-61 over Georgia keeps the dream alive. Great turn around given they lost to them by 5 in the regular season.
Next up #1 SEC seeds South Carolina who are chasing their 10th SEC title in 12 years. UK went down to them by 4 only 6 days ago in the last regular season game.

Yeah adds a little to it, was funny that in Wednesdays game telecast her parents got more coverage than Millie. Lots of close ups of them in the crowd, even captions with names etc when they went to shots of them. Sent them a couple of texts congratulating them on their performance and asking if they expected as much coverage in the next game, I would share the reply's but I dont think it meets forum standards

Also find it funny the telecasts always refer to he as from Albury Australia, she did play a couple of seasons for Albury in the WNBL prior to starting her college career but her home, where she lives and went to school is actually nearly 120 miles and a couple of hours travel away. Guess finding what is regarded as Australia's 20th largest city on a map is easier than a town with less than 1000 people

When we lived in Virginia and people asked where we were from, we'd say the "Metro Richmond Area," although we were actually from about an hour west of there. No one had ever really heard of the small rural county we were from. The main street in our county was just a mile long, didn't have a stop sign or stop light. We didn't have a Mcdonalds, or any other fast food restaurant, no grocery store, no real shopping. The nearest Walmart, etc was thirty minutes away, the nearest shopping center as well.

Here in Oklahoma we just say we are "About two and a half hours southeast of Oklahoma City." No one has heard of the Ghost Town we live outside of... last survey showed a population of 250. We like it like that. ;)

Well the run is over for UK in the SEC going down 87-64 they just never got going offensively or defensively.
One bright spot was Millie toped scored for UK with 15 points shooting 100% on 3's

Now just a wait for their named to be called for the NCAA tournament, still a chance they could be named in the top 16 seeds.

All starts Saturday for the UK girls up against 12th seeds James Madison, they did hold onto their 16th national ranking but shows just how strong SEC is only being seeded 5th in regional 3. With the draw it may be the only game they play against a team seeded below them. They have 2 wins against top 5 teams this season and 2 more narrow losses going down by 2 points so when they are on they can match it with anyone. They will certainly have to be on if they want to progress.

Second round match up against West Vaginia for the girls in a few hours, first match was effectively over by the first quarter with UK scoring 32 points and having a 22 point lead at the break.

The girls held on 74-73 and into the sweet 16, next up is #1 seeds Texas, they will have to play out of their skin to get past Texas. A hard task but not impossible, they went down 53-64 last month in their most recent meeting and certainly have the ability to play better than that occasion.

74-73 :o That’s a close one and a nail biter for sure. Best of luck against Texas, same school that took out our local men’s team from the tournament.

Nail bitter for sure, they had a 12 point lead early in the final quarter they blew, Millie missed a 3 with 8 seconds on the clock WV got a shot away that rimmed out, UK got the rebound but ruled to have stepped out of bounds so WV got the ball with 0.2sec. They tried a tip in play with it ruled they had caught the ball and not tipped it on but it missed anyway.

The girls went down to Texas in the next round.
4 of the girls were selected in the WNBA draft including Millie as the 35th pick. Big decision for her, she had intended to play in Europe next season.
