Our Morning Coffee and Weather

From a low of 45 this morning to high of 82 this afternoon. Really nice day.

It was 1 F at 0730 this am. It's 0930 and 15 F. The sun is out and it looks nice out.
The birds are at the feeder and I'm having my coffee in a Boy Scout mug.

Not much planned.

47 at 3PM on its way to an afternoon high of 49 before falling back to an overnight low of 41 .... solid overcast, no blue sky can be seen .... a brief shower is supposed to move through this afternoon .... I had a late morning medical appointment .... just picked up a vehicle that was in for service .... nothing else on today's calendar

25 when I got up several hours ago but it’s now (3:00 pm) 53 with beautiful blue sunny skies. Nice again tomorrow with rain coming in on Wednesday.

This morning I took my wife to an eye surgeon for a cataract surgery consultation. Her first eye will be done next Tuesday and the second the following Tuesday. I told her about the folks on here who have discussed their successful surgery’s. She’s looking (pun intended) forward to having better vision.

Tomorrow she has a visit with a pulmonary doc for some lung tests. About a month ago she started coughing up blood. Took her to the ER and after staying in the hospital overnight for observation they determined she had an infection in her lungs. As she’s a smoker we expected to hear the worst and we’re thankful that we didn’t. No signs of any type of cancers.

I worry all the time about Carol, and myself for that matter, as I used to be a heavy smoker.
I quit smoking about 6 or 7 years ago with the help of these great forum members. The forum became a sponsor for me, and I'm grateful...
I have felt better ever since.

Thanks Mark and the best to “Carol”. My wife has good genes, her mom lived to be 93 and was a very heavy smoker. Ironically her dad who quit smoking many many years ago died of lung cancer and her mom had no cancers at all.

28 this morning with a beautiful 55 degree sunny day expected. Tomorrow starts a rainy period but the last several days have been wonderful.

Leaving for the lung doc shortly then home to enjoy the day.

My Carol and I both smoked but quit over 20 years ago. I still miss it. It was like an old friend.
I always say that if the Doc says I have a few weeks to live I'm going down and get a case of Pall Malls.

I certainly don't miss it either. I'm enjoying the much-improved sense of smell and taste that I lost for many years, not to mention breathing deeper and not coughing all the time. I don't even think about smoking anymore.

Spring weather here. Been camping even through the cold and snow we had. Considering selling my reloading gear and cartridge guns. May divest of all but my flintlock. It’s all I shoot anyway.

Starting at sixteen, I worked my way up to two packs of unfiltered camels everyday. The last carton I bought when I was in my early twenties cost $10 at the local grocery store. I'm glad to be without it, like you guys. Nicotine addiction is a bitch.

Do you get a yearly lung low dose cat scan? I've been getting one for several years now, Medicare pays the full cost.

Here in WA state a carton of cigarettes is around $120 with a proposed tax increase of $2 a pack. Also they just put a 95% tax on non-cigarette nicotine products.

I hate to think about how much my 50 year mostly 2 pack a day habit cost me.
