Secondhand Lions is one of my favorite films, too, but I liked The Apostle just as much, though for very different reasons. His contribution to films will be appreciated for generations. Good acting is god's gift to us. He was among the best.

That's a good line, and he had several good ones in Lonesome Dove. I've watched it a few times at our cabin the last couple years.

Just watched Lonesome Dove and until I saw it in some of the articles since his death I hadn't really remembered him playing Frank Burns in the MASH movie or Boo Radley in "To Kill a Mockingbird".

I saw on the news that his character in To Kill a Mockingbird had no lines. They showed a couple of clips showing his masterful looks and facial expressions and how powerful his presence was even without speaking. Said it was his first movie. RIP.

Duvall, who died at 95 on Feb. 15, once admitted that despite earning the first of seven Oscar nominations for his supporting performance in The Godfather, there's one aspect of the 1972 film he would've liked to change. Reflecting on Duvall's performance, Coppola said, "Actors click into character at different times — the first week, third week. Bobby's hot after one or two takes. That's all he needs."

Duvall then interjected, "I just wish I had a better hairpiece."
