I like how your bench-top drill press extends out far enough to drill into long pieces.
Glad you're getting closer to your bench completion.

Had to build that riser to get the press tall enough to drill these parts. Got them drilled today. Now I have to dismantle the riser. Trying to get it done by Springtime.

Yes, and the neck reaching out farther than the base plate.

That is handy sometimes. That was a rescue. Required a little repair.

Almost a base. The Rube Goldberg set up worked to get the holes drilled true and in place. One more stretcher to cut to length and cut 2 tenons. That one does not get bolted on. Then it's time to pull out the rough cut boards for the top and begin to joint and plane to prepare to glue together. Not decided of I am going to use biscuits for glueing.

That looks more like furniture than a working bench. I mean that in a good way. I imagine it will hurt the first time you get a chisel gouge, or a hammer mark on it.
Nice work!

Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement. This is something I have wanted and been pricing for a couple of decades. Decided to attempt making a heritage wood working bench 2 years ago and bought plans and found the wood I wanted. Local mill had salvaged ash, remains from the emerald ash borer that devastated almost all of the ash trees. Probably my last big project and I want it built as well as I am able. This type of construction is new to me and I am trying to figure things out as I go. So it is SLOW. I have made changes in the plans to include a better front vice and end vice. These two items have added a new rifle's cost to the construction but I only have one bench in me so I need it right. I am making this to use with smaller projects so dings and gouges are expected and I am looking forward to using it.

It is finally a base. Between the snow, doctors appointments and the dentist I got the last piece made and installed. It checked out square so I added the vice which is going to be cut down even with the top so about 4 inches off.
