Most folks don't know about the "Driftless Area". We live just on the edge of it. If I
go a few miles east there are riles of debris. Those glaciers had a lot of power.
I have several extremely large boulders that decorate my garden and at the end of the drive.

31 this morning with an expected high around 34. Another gloomy foggy day with the sun visible only to those who travel up into the mountains to recreate. It’s pretty cool to be up in the bright sun looking down on the foggy valleys which looks like a big ocean. Another foggy day tomorrow and then maybe some sun breaks on Sunday and beyond.

Not much planned for today other than indoor tasks. We are finding that our Medicare Advantage Plan we have from United Health Care took a huge drop in coverage this year. We’re looking at different plans within UHC and later this year when all those annoying health care advertisements start up we’ll be looking at a possible change. Grrrrrrrrr

We had a beautiful day yesterday, but a hard frost last night. Supposed to hit 43 today. You should move north an hour Hatch. I have to say, I’m enjoying this “Global Warmimg” or whatever it is.

Supposedly 37' this morning. But, right here it had to be colder - we had frost. Looking like a sunny day and 53' later. Speaking of glacier debris. Well drilling in the area indicates we're sitting on top of about 100ft of silt scraped from the Washington scab lands and deposited here during the Missoula floods. Several boulders in the area dropped from icebergs from Canada floating in the floods.

Not me. I love plowing and shoveling snow. I might not if I had to work a regular job.

I'm also enjoying the warmer temps here, we had about a week of mid-20 lows but it's mostly been lows of 30's and highs in the 40's. I am concerned about the lack of snow up in the mountains, my irrigation water is from a mountain snow fed creek. Last year we barely made it through the summer and I believe there is currently less snow pack than last year. Hopefully we'll get more snow in February and March.

The Driftless areas are where the glaciers never entered. Instead there are undulating hills that were created by glacial runoff.

We are in Dakota County and the glaciers seemed to end here where we live. We have huge stones all over the place. We also live on the north slope of a limestone ridge, (which is covered with soil and vegetation), and our lake has been cut through the ridge from north to south, probably by runoff water. Now it is spring fed.
