Our Morning Coffee and Weather

We had a friend come over last evening with a truck load of rock salt and
salt our drive from the house to the mail box. That's about half a mile.
Can hardly wait to see the bill on that, but it had to be done.

I can easily take zero degrees. It’s the wind that I hate.

Here’s Trey in his boot. I took him out of the backyard into the trees and brush and he did great. He was happy to romp again.

Awesome. Hope he continues to improve. No doubt, he will, but it's gotta be hard. I once cut the bottom of my bare foot on something sharp in the sandy beach of a just started vacation. Hurt and hobbled the whole time. Nothing is quite as disruptive as an open wound on the sole. Good to see him romp again.

Yeah, a foot injury is so debilitating. His pad is regenerating itself and it’s interesting to watch the progress. He’s doing great and doesn’t mind the boot. With it on I let him romp into the brush and snow as he will.

26 this morning and very foggy around the area. No worries for me as I’m not leaving home today. This week we have a warm up forecast with a high in the mid 40’s on Wednesday. Maybe a little rain/snow on Monday.

Yesterday I started my limb burning project. Conditions are perfect for it with several inches on snow on the ground and temps in the lower 30’s. Heading bock down to the burn area here in a few. Mrs hatchdog is keeping the fire burning in the stove and I am keeping the fire burning outside. I made my piles in a circle around my burn pile and hand feed the limbs. This keeps the fire small and within the burn rules from the county. Plenty warm down by the fire where I have a chair, table, radio and a thermos of hot coffee. Life is good!

Just awating the return of Spring around here! Well it was here the last 2 days with temps near 70 and about a good inch of rain today.

We haven’t had much for snow north of you. Got maybe a 1/2” last night. There have been a few similar snow falls, but all have been gone by noon. No complaints from me on that!

I don’t have any pines left on our property, so no big clean up’s anymore. Our spruce and fir are not messy, but we have 3 giant chestnuts that are beautiful but terribly messy. Spring and winter shots of the chestnuts. The flowers in spring are crazy!





It’s raining now, so I’ll probably light a fire in the shop and do some riveting on the Airstrwam in the shop.

Low 30s today with light snow. Glad I got the outside work done enough until weather breaks again. Ice festival next weekend. Temps are supposed to be a little warmer. Hope to see things before they melt too much.

Beautiful pics of the chestnuts and that so green grass from spring. Looking forward to spring too. Like you, we have had very little snow. The official snowfall from a couple of days ago was 7.4” at the Spokane airport. Interesting that prior to that this entire snow season only totaled 6.7”. I didn’t get the 7.4” that the airport got, only maybe 4” or so. But finally the mountains are getting snow and all the ski resorts are open.

31 this morning and it’s looking overcast as it gets light. Mid 30’s today with some rain/snow coming in overnight. Another day of outdoor burning for me and I expect after today I have three more days to get it done. I’m taking tomorrow off, no sense standing around in the rain/snow when we are looking at several dry days ahead.

The grandson and I went hunting, but only saw a few that were a little out of reach for him. Plus they were running.
We then came home, ate a late breakfast. Then played a little in the back yard.

what a difference a day can make, yesterday's high of 78 is long gone .... for today, 48 with a Real Feel of 38 at 4:38 PM .... steady 20 mph wind out of the northwest with gust of 31 mph ... they forecasted today's high to be 58, I'm pretty sure that it ain't gonna get there .... we haven't cranked a vehicle today .... its a good day to have NFL playoff games

Hey RanchRoper, nice that summer came early this year.

Here across the divide from you it’s 33 and will go up from there to the upper 30’s with maybe 40 by mid week. On and off showers today then dry the rest of the week with the possibility of severe fog for a few days. Typical January other than the above average temps.

Taking the day off from my limb burning project. After three days I’m better than half done. Weather has been perfect for me to work on this. Note the difference in the snow near the fire from day one to day three. That burning sure puts out the heat.
