30 this morning looking at a high in the mid 30 with more snow coming in this evening. Maybe an inch or so in addition to the 2-3” we got yesterday. Not much snow for me to mess with but I did shovel off the concrete. Still haven’t put the blade on the Ranger.

Yesterday when I was shoveling off the concrete approach to the garage I had the dogs out with me. They had a great time running around in the snow. As I’m shoveling I start seeing small drops of blood here and there. Yep, our older dog split the large pad on his front paw. So his romping around in the snow is put on hold. Seems to be doing okay. The vet told us to put super glue on it but we weren’t comfortable with that so we’re keeping it wrapped and plan to keep him off any gravel and out of the brush until it heals. So it’s trapped in the backyard for him.

Jan 7th has been a deceptive weather day.... our high reached 72 .... at 5PM the temp has already dropped to 62 on its way to a forecasted low of 39 .... sporadic light wind, it has looked rainy off and on but not a drop of rain .... our highs and lows are predicted to be warm for this time of year, no rain called for through the 16th .... our day has been spent taking a grandson to school and picking him up later .... in addition, I took my hearing aids in for their annual check .... a while back our camper sustained some body damage, today a fellow came and started making repairs .... he knows his business and we've been impressed by the way he has matched our camper's 20 year old paint job .... he says he should be able to finish the repairs tomorrow

Mankato…..I used to hunt elk on a mountain it NE Washington state called Mankato.

28 here in the valley with another inch of snow overnight. Total for the last couple of days is pushing 4” which is the most we’ve seen this year. Still no need for anything other than a shovel. Starting tomorrow we are looking at several days of dry conditions with a warm up to highs in the upper 30’s.

Not much on tap for today other stopping into a furniture store in Spokane to check out a sale. Mrs hatchdog is still looking for a dining room set and a bedroom set. Her ability to make is decision is horrible.

He’s doing okay other than his paw is very sensitive to the cold snow when he needs to go outside. We got a rubber boot for his paw for his outings. Tried it this morning and it worked well. I’ll try to get a pic of him wearing it as he looks pretty silly with it on.

great Minnesota Sioux uprising which killed scores of settlers.

Interesting, thanks for the info regarding Mankato. We had a very similar situation here in the Spokane area. Same scenario, several Indians including the Chief were hung in an area called Latah Valley. The valley was named Hangman Valley, the river in it was called Hangman Creek and a golf course built by the county in the area was called Hangman Valley Golf Course. Here about five years ago (go figure ) the name Hangman was eliminated and replaced with Latah.

Here’s Trey in his boot. I took him out of the backyard into the trees and brush and he did great. He was happy to romp again.

Awesome. Hope he continues to improve. No doubt, he will, but it's gotta be hard. I once cut the bottom of my bare foot on something sharp in the sandy beach of a just started vacation. Hurt and hobbled the whole time. Nothing is quite as disruptive as an open wound on the sole. Good to see him romp again.

talk about a good day, this has certainly been one .... right now (3PM) its 64 degrees which has been predicted to be today's high .... tonight's low is supposed to be 41 .... right after breakfast we to a grandson to school and left straight from there driving Maureen to a medical appointment in north Raleigh .... she has had both knees replaced within the last year ..... following the second operation a blood clot formed in her right leg and she's been treated for it every since .... after extensive testing this morning, they are sure the clot has dissolved .... yep a good day .... in addition, the fellow who has been repairing some significant body damage to our camper finished .... our camper is painted (no decals) .... it truly amazed me how he matched the 20 year old paint .... she really looks good .... our next task is picking our grandson up at school and getting him home
