Henry Friends of NRA 44mag

Post by Badnadz » Wed Dec 31, 2025 1:10 am

I recently aquired a Henry Big boy Silver 44mag/44special octagon barrel and engraved with 25 year NRA, It is in original box and paperwork brand new and never shot. I cant find anything on this rifle about its value. Im a Marlin guy and will probably get rid of this rifle. Any info as far as value would be appreciated.

One like it sold at auction for $900 in 2017.

Henry Big Boy Silver Lever Action Rifle .44 Mag with Anniversary Logo
Lot # 8 (Sale Order: 8 of 27)

As a "bigger boy" center-fire version of the rim fire Golden Boy Silver, the Henry Big Boy Silver model is an equally striking throwback to the days of nickel plating on prized guns to protect and enhance their visual appeal. Aside from the tougher solid aluminum-bronze alloy used here, the Big Boy Silver is essentially the same gun as the brass Big Boy Classic, with the same 20" octagon barrel, buckhorn/bead sights, drilled and tapped scope option, straight stock wrist, carbine-style butt plate, ten-round magazine capacity, tube magazine loading, transfer bar safety, and 8.68 lbs. weight. This custom Henry Big Boy Silver features the Friends of NRA 25th Anniversary logo engraved on the left receiver and the NRA seal engraved on the right. Limited to 1,145 units consecutively serialized and exclusive to Friends of NRA.
* Caliber:.44 Magnum/.44 Special
* Barrel: 20"
* Capacity: 10 rounds
* Stock: American Walnut
* 25th Anniversary Logo and NRA seal engraved on receiver
* Engraving by Baron Technology, Inc.
* Custom NRA Serialization

Most commemorative once originally purchased rarely bring a premium over regular models no matter the manufacturer.
So my guess would be in the 1k area.

I don't see a used Henry going for anywhere near that.
Maybe, maybe one of the 1860's, but not a commemorative.
I can't believe they sell many anyway.

Retail is often 15 to 20% less than MSRP. The $2400 engraved 44mag I can get here for about $1990 (17% off MSRP). I can bet there are better prices elsewhere. Stuff up and down the West coast has gotten really expensive. Couple places in Georgia selling them for about $1700.

I wonder just how many of those sell crazy things they actually sell?
Winchester did it late 60's through I think late 80's.
Most of those now don't really bring that much of a premium price over a regular model in the same condition.
The 38-55's do maybe a little more, but I think that has more to do with the few made. As do the reg. 38-55 does over the 30-30, same reason less were produced.
And, I'm sorry, but I just don't see these Henrys ever been "collectable" like Winchester, Marlin, or even Savage lever action rifles. I know and talk with Winchester and Marlin lovers and a good many of them can bring themselves to own one.
Just my 2 cents, not worth much, buth there it is.

I appreciate all the info, thank you. I actually got it on a trade and it is actually brand new in the box and never fired. I asked the guy why he never shot it and he said it was to pretty to shoot. Lol

For me the price would be less as the NRA has no meaning whatsoever for me.
