I think you've made a real good choice, Squatch. Looks like it suits your requirements to a tee. :)

Your Nikon has real close configuration to my Nikon Coolpix S3300. Mine is not waterproof or shockproof, and I think the only other differences are I have a 6X wide zoom and 16 MP.

I think it's cool that yours comes with a mini-tripod. The only negative I have about mine is that I can't get good closeup shots. Maybe a tripod would steady the camera, and the close-ups would be clearer? Anyway, I like my Coolpix a lot. Like you said, simple to use and not at all spendy.

Looking forward to seeing your new photos of your Henrys! ;)

Never been on one, but there is a guy around here I see on the river. I believe he has a 90 on it. Don't ask, it's just the way it is around here.

I won't even talk about the airboats.

Kind of a "Here, hold my beer" mentality.

Good choice. I have a Nikon Coolpix P530 which is entirely different but a good camera.

Thanks folks I'll let you know how it works out.

I'm actually waiting to do the Skinner sight on my 45/70 till I have a camera that will take decent close ups.

A few random pics with the new camera. Easy to use. I think it will be fine for my use.

Easy to see why you're happy with the new camera, Squatch....your photos are very, very good.
I liked especially the bronze receiver photo. That bronze reflection is cool.

Wondering when you would post again -- glad to see you're back and to hear that you were only busy.
Yup, life & busyness happen. ;)

Will look forward to more of your new camera's productions! :D

That crescendo of fog rising toward the sun is beautiful!
Almost can imagine it being Walden Pond, which Thoreau enjoyed...

“We need the tonic of wildness...At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.”
― Henry David Thoreau, Walden: Or, Life in the Woods

Thought I'd post a follow up. We've been so happy with this little camera that I bought another for the wife. Shortly after that the flash died on mine. So far that's actually been a good thing. It now takes great low light pics! Previously they had confused the camera some.

Hack and I have been doing some winter camping lately at a local state park. We have it to ourselves during the week. Fort Fredrick State Park. We were touring the fort and couldn't see through the old float glass windows of the bunk houses. But my camera sure could.

Very cool fort.

I leave the flash set to off whenever I can.

Great photographs. Thanks for sharing your camping with us.
