Loads are no problem, thought making powder was being discussed. Anyhow, all good.

fyi - Powder Valley has free hazmat on $149+ orders today only on primers and powder. Takes some of the sting out of the price.

I hope smokeless powder lasts a long time. I stocked up years ago and have not reloaded anything in the last 4 yrs at least. I’m good with supplies until my 100th birthday I think.

I bought some H110 from Gunbroker when I first started reloading. It came in an old rectangular container (they stopped making them in the mid-70s). The powder performed as expected, but I did a search for information and found this statement, which I posted on this forum quite awhile ago ( viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5174#p70791 ).

…Once a container has been opened, (and even slightly before it's opened), the chemicals used for 'drying' the powder "off-gas". That doesn't, to my knowledge, change the burn characteristics of the powder, but it does change its "bulk density" ... A 50-grain charge of "new" powder will contain less energy than a 50-grain charge of "old" powder because the "old" powder will have a higher bulk density than a "new" cannister of powder does....

This isn't an issue once a cartridge is loaded because the chemical energy is fixed forever - the amount of powder doesn't change, only it's weight. That's why milsurp ammo from the late '30s (and especially the nazi 8x56R stuff), is still good to this day.
