First Mag: Colt 1911 100th Anniversary model

Post by GunnyGene » Sat Nov 29, 2025 6:36 pm

I finally quite torturing myself about whether to shoot this NIB gun that I acquired in Nov '23.

So today I set up a target in 40* weather. Target at 7yds, ammo Federal 230grn FMJ, 7 rds. I'll be shooting it more over the next few weeks (weather permitting) to break it in well.

Here's some screen shots of the video I took.

A beaut, and the first shot was too.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can't do anymore with regret, I just look forward to the things I still can.

I’m seeing a nice group in that target. Broken in or not that pistol is doing its job as well as the operator.

Well looks like it and you are doing a great job! Nothing like shooting off the porch without having to drive 30 miles to it!

Yes, but I still have to vacuum up the brass. I'm thinking about getting one of those robot vacs, but I'm not sure they can handle large caliber brass without choking on it. ;)
