The local range goes out to 200 yards. The range at Fort Lewis goes out to 300 yards. The range in Ephrata goes out to 450 yards. Non range shooting in this area is usually less than 100 yards because of the thick vegetation. In Montana you could easily shoot a mile.

This is a great thread.

50 yrds at an indoor range that about a 25 min drive.
But I have a lead on an outdoor range that is 100 yrds almost a 50 min drive!

Its alot of fun to hear that gong ring seconds later after the shot is let go. 540gr bullets under 86grs of swiss 1fg and down range she goes. 45-100. Did it for 9 years and to be good its like anything else total committment. I just didnt have that kind of time and wanted to do other things Al

Here is the gun I shot longe range with. So you have an idea. I havent shot it in about 10 years its become a safe queen. The sights alone are worth more than a Henry. I wanted to sell the gun but the wife said no way. So it sits here in the safe. It was alot of fun but it takes 2 people to do it as you need a good spotter also. I loaded the shells and cast my own bullets. Al

When I had access, I enjoyed shooting the .308 at 300yd silhouettes.

Would like to get access to a range like that again. the public ranges are all 100yds.
