66 muggy degrees out there with overcast skies. There has been some light rain around but nothing on my bald head. High today of 81 but warming up again to the 90’s for the Labor Day weekend. I mentioned yesterday about a short section of the Spokane river going dry on the surface and I found this picture showing the difference between this year and a few years ago. The river has not gone dry (much too big for that) but this short section has gone dry on the surface but not below in the aquifer. Still a disturbing pic for sure.

Hitting the golf course today starting at 9:00. The course we’re playing is always muggy due to lots of water and today it will be even more muggy. Yuk.

Last day at the coast. 58' and cloudy. Maybe 65' with some sun later. Likely no sun later. It's the OR coast.

59 heading to the upper 80’s to 90. The warmup begins again with temps getting hotter every day and peaking Tuesday at 98. Pretty late in the season for these temps. It’s going to be hot hot hot for all the poor campers out there. Can’t imagine sleeping in a tent in these temps.

Heading out for errands today in Idaho including stopping into a shop in Post Falls and picking up some used 32 acp brass a local guy left there for me. I’m using this brass for my gallery load project that’s pending.

Back home from the coast. Kids, grand kids and other grand parents there camping. Fun for all. Wife and I 'camped' at a local motel.

61' and cloudy this morning. Supposed to clear off some, mostly sunny with a few clouds and maybe get up to 88'. Mid next week maybe back up into the upper 90's.

65  this morning. Had some overcast come in last night keeping the low up. Hot today, hotter tomorrow and hottest on Tuesday with possible triple digits. Go away. Maybe cooling down by the weekend.

Jumping on the lawn mower here in a bit to beat the heat. No outdoor plans for this afternoon. Tomorrow my wife’s cousin invited us for a bbq and a round of golf for her husband and me. They live on the Deer Park golf course and have carts so I won’t be walking. 11:00 start so we’ll be out in the heat of the day. Yuk but I manned up and accepted the invite.

Good late morning, the grandson and I have been out and about on the farm this morning looking for coyotes. None cooperated though. So we came back and just polished off some breakfast and chilling for a few he says.

I've eaten two of them, which were the tastiest birds I've ever had. They each died after a window strike and I thought, why leave it to the insects and other scavengers? Regarding hunting, Mourning Doves are protected by the Migratory Bird Act, which CT honors, so it's illegal to hunt them here. Most states have a hunting season, though. I've read that they're the most hunted bird in North America.

BTW... Partly cloudy skies over CT this morning will become overcast during the afternoon. High 77F. Winds NE at 5 to 10 mph. ;)

Not me, I’ve been humbled too many times in the past. It’s rare that we have any doves around for the Sept. 1 opener as usually in late August we get a cold spell that runs them out. But just yesterday I had two in my backyard.

Speaking of no late August cold spell when I got up a couple of hours ago it was 70 degrees. It has dropped all the way to 69, whew. We’re looking at possible high temp records for the next few days with upper 90’s to 100+. Frickin nuts for the first of September. Back in the day when I still dragged my butt to work every day my wife and I used to go to “grouse camp” the first week of September. Back then the season opened on 9/1 so it worked out great to incorporate the Labor Day holiday into a weeks vacation. The opener is now 9/15 but even it it was still the first who would want to be out in the 90’s looking for a grouse?

Heading to my wife’s cousins today for a round of golf and a bbq. Way too hot for golf but I’m going anyway.
