How fun. I’ve never ordered a new vehicle of any sort including rv’s and boats. That must be awesome sitting down and selecting the truck exactly as you wanted and not making any compromises.
the first vehicle I custom ordered was a Jeep J10 pickup .... since then, our vehicle purchases have been a mix of off the lot and custom ordered .... these things are so dang expensive and we tend to keep our vehicles for a long time .... we kept the J10 mentioned above for 24 years .... my current pickup is a 2021 Silverado and we still have an '05 Trailblazer .... with this being the case I hate to have a vehicle that the conversation is, "I really like this rig BUT" and start listing the features I wish it had or don't like at all ....

Oh, it'll be worth it. Just hate the wait.

although it can seem like the days on a calendar don't seem to be passing, time does go by .... so far as we know, everything is moving along as scheduled and our new truck will be built in Flint, Michigan some time next week .... as soon as that proves to be the case our dealership will be notified of the build and shipping schedule and they will pass that info along to us

Years ago, a friend special ordered a car, his first new one. Part of the package was he was kept informed of the progress and when the time came, FORD notified him and he flew up and took delivery at the factory. They put him up overnight, he got a factory tour the next morning, then drove his new car home, taking his time, enjoying the trip, seeing some sights. (Keeping in mind the break in advice from Ford.)

If you went to Detroit today, you might get carjacked leaving the city.

We’ve been kicking around getting a suv that has a better tow rating than our current Explorer. We like the standard length Expedition but there are hardly any available locally. Might have to order one like Jim did, that will be a first.

according to all of the literature we've been given since ordering our Chevy 2500 on June 26th, it should have been built today (Aug 11, 2025).... I do not know how long it takes for a truck to be assembled today or may be at any point along the process ..... I do know that the next time our dealership will get an update will be after it is fully built and VIN number has been assigned .... I've been told that if I haven't heard anything to call a week from today

just got word that our new truck is sitting in a yard near Winston-Salem, NC which is roughly 115 miles (1 hr 53 min) from our home where it is awaiting space on a truck coming our way .... translation, it should be here sometime early next week .... that fits the delivery date of 9-2-25 that we were given the day GM accepted the order

I'm excited, and it's not MY truck. Can't wait to see the photo album you'll post.

still nothing new on the delivery of our truck .... none the less, it has been a pretty active day .... since we plan to trade in our current 2011 Chevy 1500 we decided to remove its front mounted winch .... not a complex process but it is one that does require some heavy (for me) lifting .... bottom line, its been taken care of and the winch is now taking up space I didn't have to spare in our garage .... wish I could install it on our new truck but doing so would block some of the front sensors which are a really good feature

just my luck, our new truck is supposed to arrive this week .... while moving our pickup to clean it out, its check engine light came on .. :? .. looks like we need to be at our local garage first thing in the morning to see what's going on

check engine light mentioned above was (hopefully) a none issue .... had the truck scanned at Auto Zone and it was for the same sensor we replaced a couple of days ago .... best guess is when they replaced it, they didn't get the code fully removed .... unhooked the truck's battery and let her sit for a while .... reconnected the battery and check engine light hasn't come back on .... just got word the truck should be delivered to our local dealership tomorrow (Wednesday) .... our hope is to be able to take care of all that goes into making the purchase and bring her home sometime tomorrow .... first thing Thursday we plan to take it over the fellow who will be applying a ceramic coat .... Friday we head for Myrtle Beach, SC plan to return home the following Monday .... hopefully we will be able to pickup the truck and bring it home shortly thereafter

Good luck with the new truck process Jim. I have a similar heavy winch from Harbor Freight. I bought a trailer hitch mount for it. I only used it for taking out the old dock at camp. Mounting it on the trailer hitch was pretty stable and convenient.

Hopefully it’s just your gas cap or something simple like that.

apparently unhooking the battery did reset the Check Engine light in our 2011 Silverado 1500 mentioned above .... that truck has been traded and its NC license plate has been turned in .... our new 2026 Silverado 2500HD is parked in our driveway .... she's dirty because tomorrow (Thursday) it will be driven to the fellow who will apply a ceramic coating doesn't want the new ones he works on to be washed by any dealership .... he prefers to do it himself .... Friday morning we head to Myrtle Beach, SC and plan to return home on the following Monday .... the weather forecast is kind of iffy but we hope he will be through with our truck by the time we get back .... so far, we've driven her about 50 miles today and we are well pleased with both its ride and handling ....
