Two piece firing pin

I saw these mentioned in the intro thread from John when he asked about broken parts.
I am curious as to how many have had a problem with them.
In all my time owning and shooting Marlin and then Henry rifles with these, I've yet to have any issue.
The only one I ever saw broken was on a 1950's era Marlin that a buddy had bought.
I found him one and replaced it for him, it takes a little bit of time, but isn't difficult or Rocket Science.

And for a little history, it was introduced way back in 1893 when Marlin brought out their 1893 model.

I have 2 Henrys with those two piece pins. But I dont shoot them very much so Im probably not a good indicator of the issue. But no issues so far.

My Long Ranger is single.
The other three are two piece. The 30-30 tube fed is the most shot, no breaks so far with any of them.

Both my 357 and 45 colt BBX used the two-piece firing pins. Both failed within a month of each other. But...and I suppose this is the big caveat, I had easily 4k through both. Turn-around time was 30 days for the 357, which broke first, IIRC, and the 45 Colt was two weeks. Henry replaced both barrels on the rifles at the same time.

My first BBB357 was replaced after its second trip back to the factory because it repeatedly jammed and they said they couldn't fix it.

The replacement rifle went back three months later because of light strikes. I learned it had a two-piece firing pin, which meant nothing to me. All I knew is it went click when it should have gone bang. They replaced the "...locking bar, transfer bar, and rear firing pin" . That was ten years ago. No problems since. Thankfully.

I have heard that it is not a good idea to dry fire Marlin lever guns because firing pins can break. Don't know how valid that is, but I've followed that advice just to be safe. I have never had a firing pin on a Marlin lever gun break in actual firing use, though.

both were replaced with one piece firing pins and bolts.
