Another 4 hours on the tractor and the road building gravel is leveled. It makes a good solid building base and when compacted doesn’t erode. The down side is it gets dirty when wet. I’ll finish with cleaned 3/4” gravel which they call crushed rock.

Then the gang shows up to play cards.

Finally everyone is gone and I can head to the house.

I’m getting more big rocks this week and bought three large pots yesterday. Later today I’m heading to another garden store to get more pots. I try to get them when they are 75% off because they are expensive and I’m poor.

I bought more pots today. This was the first load. They are stacked inside each other so what you see in the next pictures were all on the trailer except as noted.

Usually I can get 75% off on a select few but this time it was only 50% however it was for the entire line. I’ve never seen this before. Although I didn’t save as much as I wanted I did get some of the latest pots. These Michael Carr are the very best pots in the world and they come from Vietnam. It’s all in the clay. I don’t like things made in China but they make the second best pots. Like I say it’s all in the clay. Mexican pots are the worst. No they are the second worst. The absolute worst are American pots. We just don’t have the right clay.

I get the boulders on Thursday or Friday.

I had a pot unloading party yesterday. I’m expanding my driveway so people can turn around without driving on the grass.

This isn’t where they go but look better arranged. You can see the yellow grass on the right that was sprayed. You can also see it in the top picture. The gravel will be spread there.

I never think that far ahead although most of the big ones will have shrubs or such. These are on the far side of the RVport and this is the second growing season for the big pots. The smaller pots in the second picture were replanted a few days ago.

Those are great looking trees in very nice pots. The second picture looks like they will grow pretty big. Did any of your pots freeze and break in the winter? I had three do that two winters ago when I didn't empty the dirt out.

Me being thrifty, I tried gluing them back together. It worked pretty well too.

No I’ve never had a Chinese or Vietnamese pot freeze and break. In Washington I had lots of cheap Mexican pots break. Pots from Vietnam are the world’s best. I remember a pottery in Vietnam back in the late sixties never thinking I would ever own one.

I can get to my deck from the outside now and I can walk all the way to the RV directly from the porch. And I can walk all the way around it.

Those pots look heavy. How are you moving them around without damage?
