even without winning his 7th championship yesterday, for my money the Jimmy Johnson - Chad Knaus team is the finest in the history of NASCAR .... I can't see any reason with that they can't pickup another championship or two down the line

so long as Rick Hendrick holds his operation together, I'd be hard pressed to bet against the 48 team .... my preference is for the 88 but as good as that team and driver are, the 48 is a cut above ....

Since 2016 is over who wants to start the Official 2017 NASCAR thread?

some NASCAR news is better than no NASCAR news .. ;) .. all in all, not a bad way to end the year :

"Amy spilled the beans tonight that we're getting married on New Year's Eve. I'm really excited and have enjoyed going through the process. I've never been married before and I'm excited to be marrying Amy."

Thanks! That is great news and the first that I had heard of his wedding plans. She is a real purty girl. I certainly hope that he can return to the team this coming season and be healthy and win some races. He is the most popular driver for a good reason. I am ready and waiting for Daytona! I will be rooting for Carl Edwards this year since Tony retired and my wife for Chase Elliott. I have been a fan since 1989 and my wife came along a few years later when I took her to her first race in Dover. We had seats on the start-finish line and she got in her seat and looked at the cars lined up and said, " oh, look at all the pretty cars!" And then they started their engines and she was so excited that she was up and cheering by the end of the race. Got some Jeff Gordon souvenirs and apparel at his trailer for her, and she was set for more races at Dover and Pocono. Actually, sometimes I think she is a bigger fan than I am. :D I have also been to Talladega one time.

Yeah, Jr is finally going to tie the knot and I'm real glad for him.

Daytona will be here before we know it.

Just as a reminder, we have already started a new 2017 Nascar thread.

Y'all have a nice New Years.
