Let's yak about 1911's

I've had 3 or 4, only one at the moment.
My favorite was a Rock Island that I lost off the scooter coming home from the daughter's one evening. I walked that 10 mile strech back and forth twice the next day, but never found it.
Gave the commander to the son for his 21st birthday.
I got this High Standard from a friend, sadly even after a couple years I have yet to put a whole box of ammo through it.
Not sure why, but have contemplating a Tisas.

I'd like to add a Series 70 Gold Cup National Match to my collection. I shot one for a year while my Springfield Match Gun was being built. The owner no longer shot it and loaned it to me. He would have sold it to me, but had promised it to his son, when he passed.

Since I don't compete any longer... I'd just be shooting for myself. I'll add one if I stumble across a good deal. It happens.

Here is my collection of 1911s. From the top ...

1. Ruger SR1911
2. Colt Competition Series 70
3. Springfield Armory Ronin
4. Tisas Raider

All are stock, with the exception of the Springfield Ronin. I like the looks of the Springfield grips, but I don't like the feel of the thin grips in my hand. So I made a pair of ~1/8 inch thick shims out of a plastic serving plate that I bought at Hobby Lobby and mounted them with some aftermarket long grip screws. Problem solved.

To add to this thread are 3 of my 1911's. I have a few more but they are not 45 caliber so I didn't include them. The first two are both Les Baer pistols, with the two tone being a Boss model. The all stainless is a Premier II usually only made in blue steel. I bought it used for a very good price.

The Springfield TRP, below, is also in stainless. This is one of the least finicky 1911's I've every owned. It will fire and feed just about anything you put in the magazine. The only exception being Bullseye wad cutters, since they are load with so little powder they won't cycle the slid.

All my 1911's have beavertail safeties. I tend to grip very high and get severe hammer bite without it. My favorite load is 230 gr. ball ammo that I load myself.

I also have a Rock Island Commander in 45 caliber but I didn't have any pictures, so it's not here.

Nice shootin there 3shot. Im not sure I could see the target well enough to put a group up like that at 25 yards.

I have the Tisas 1911. Put almost 2k rounds thru it now and only 1 malfunction, but that could be because my son limp wristed it. I was issued a 1911 back when I was young, immortal and carried the M60. Always felt right in my hands. This picture when I first got it.
