Cool little .380 shooter for my birthday!

Post by fortyshooter » Wed Apr 02, 2025 1:04 pm

Have been looking at these Mustang Pocketlite .380 pistols on and off for several years so finally found a good one on Guns International.
Made in 2012 it came with 4 six round mags all in the factory Colt case and looked to have been well taken care of with no scratches or wear marks.
Picked up 4 different brands of .380 ammo at the LGS and off I went yesterday to see how the little Mustang would run. Thankfully the previous owner had put white paint on the tiny front sight which was a big help getting on target. Loaded up the 4 mags with the three brands of ammo and it ran perfectly 55 rounds with no issues and puts them on target. Really enjoyed shooting it and it is a very handy little piece to carry. Found a holster for it since I had nothing for a semi-auto pistol that small which should be delivered today.
I carried along my Ruger 1911 .45 ACP as a comparison and of course took a few shots with it and yes you know when you shoot a 45 after plinking with a small .380! :D Last target picture shows where I hit same area with the big 45 slugs! I did a quick 4 point shots first with the Mustang and was impressed with the way it handles!

A great birthday present for my 71st year !

That's pretty cool. I had a blued Mustang .380 in the late 80's or early 90's. Didn't care for it and off it went.

Happy Birthday to a pretty cool guy!

Nice little shooter. When I was working with Juvenile Drug Dealers back in the day, I wanted one, but couldn't find one for sale. They were popular. Then, I started dealing with the more serious Juveniles. Those who had committed much more serious crimes. I shelved my five shot 38 snub for a Colt Officer's Model 45. Carried that until I started on patrol. The 38 snubby went into a coat pocket in the winter.

by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

I run the Buffalo Bore 95gr JHP in my Colt Pocketlite. It ramps up muzzle velocity to around 1100FPS. To me that takes care of ant .380 ammo inadequacies.

First, Happy Birthday!
And that's sure a sweet little Mustang. With you already having the full size 1911, familiarity with the operating system is a given.
Looks like it shoots quite well for you too.
Congrats on a fine addition to your collection!

Happy Birthday Forty. I had one for a while way back when they first came out. I liked it but thought I needed more fire power and sold it for a 9mm. As I look back now I should have kept it because it was nice to carry.

Very nice pistol and happy birthday to you.

Many years ago I was at a Spokane gunshow and ran into a work buddy. He had just bought a Mustang and couldn’t have been prouder. :D

Enjoy that beauty.
