My biggest problem is that the pole barn is 200 yards from the house and I have to wade through the snow to get the plow out. Then it's easy peasy.
I do our drive along with two others and a service road that the county refuses to do.
This is looking west from the barn to the house. That's only about one quarter of the drive.

Our County is pretty uppity about a burn barrel it seems so I have regular
trash pick up. I have had problems with idiots dumping things like old
mattresses in my woods though.

Here Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue exempts burn barrels and fire pits. But for rural has burn seasons for backyard and Ag burns. Backyard burns allowed Fall and Spring, but banned Jan 1 to Feb 28. Ag burns Fall, Winter and Spring allowed. Currently live in a rural Ag area. Non-rural areas can't backyard burn at all and Ag burns non-rural require a permit. Nobody can burn during DEQ air quality alerts.

We also have idiots dumping where our driveway meets the county road. Usually just the larger non-recylable stuff they would have to take to a txfr station. WM has a free recycling depot not too far away. Cooking oil, Plastics, glass, paper, ferrous and non-ferrous metals. If you have a large enough load of metals they'll buy it. Go around back to the scales to get weighed entering an leaving and they pay you the difference. I got $15 once for two old office metal desks.

I put the blade on yesterday not to plow my place but a neighbors. ... Nice to plow asphalt as my place is gravel and it’s hard to plow the snow while leaving the gravel in place.

All I can do is laugh with you.

I don't like plowing snow in gravel either. Fortunately here it's very-very rare. My tractor has a front loader; makes it difficult as the bucket just plugs up. I have a 3pt hitch back blade and with the blade spun around backwards I can kinda plow backwards with the tractor. Not ideal over gravel.

Montana has a big problem with people dumping garbage everywhere. Some communities fixed the problem with free trash transfer stations. Individuals can dump anything and everything including hazmat. No reason to push an old refrigerator and tires off a cliff when you can dump it for free. Here it’s a mixed problem. No they won’t dump it in the woods they just throw it in the yard. Some homes are surrounded with five acres of trash.

People here believe if it’s your land you can do as you please. The good side of that is I can have a shooting range and no one will say a word. In the Seattle area I would be taken to court.

Luckily we have a couple of local metal recyclers or there'd be refrigerators and stoves dumped alongside the roads too. One is very convenient but they don't pay for ferrous metals, the other is about a 5 mile drive for me and they will pay a small amount for most anything. A friend hauled over a couple of car bodies and got around $80@.

We also have homes that look like dumps. Supposed to be against county codes but they don't seem to enforce it very well.

Some homes like that here too. Found out when calling, county codes are enforced when there is complaint. ..........sometimes.

60 right now on its way to a high of 71 later today before falling back to an overnight low of 45 .... no rain .... we need to enjoy this nice weather because a string of days with highs in the mid 40's is on its way .... we are both very happy to have had followup medical appointments which show both of our knee replacement surgeries are healing nicely .... on the down side we've both picked up an old fashion head and chest colds, yep, nothing exotic about it .... Maureen has her last in-home physical therapy session around noon .... the young fellow who has been working with her has done an excellent job .... on Monday she starts two in-clinic physical therapy sessions per week ....

17 with a sunny day forecast and the lightning skies are confirming this. High around 25 expected. Heading to Costco today for a bottle of wine my wife likes and wants to enjoy on Super Bowl Sunday. Otherwise nothing planed.

Yesterday I mentioned my neighbors huge shop. I plowed his place again yesterday so took this pic. That’s one awesome building. The door on the right is a separate area that is his work area with a car lift. The rest of it is open. All areas have heat available and there is a bathroom too. He collects and races vintage motorcycles. Also vintage Porsches including a 914 6 cylinder (rare) that is a full blown race car he races on the west coast vintage road courses races. He has a 1970 911 that is street legal and he runs it in Autocross events. I rode along with him at an event here at the local airport and that was fun.

My Ranger looks like a Tonka toy in front.

Supposed to stay below freezing today with freezing rain and then snow this afternoon. Guess I will head to the grocery store soon instead of my usual Sunday trip and then hunker down this evening.
Got my hand water pump and it looks to be made well. Have to get my plumbing list together and make a mount for the pump. Will probably plumb it in next week. Like the idea of an in line hand pump in the basement just in case. It will keep me from running the generator in warmer weather just for water if the power goes out. Literature states it will pump water up to 2 stories for a gravity feed situation but I do not have a raised cistern at this time so my bladder tank will have to suffice.

Good morning, 60° here this AM, and up to to low 70s later.
Have been piddling with the new Rossi this morning, she got a little upgrade. Did the little redneck bore sighting and it is close enough to work with I believe.
I pulled the scope and base off the old Westerfield 30-30 and without any changes it looks good. We will see a little later.
Got a couple quick errands to take of first.

Got some snow over night, very white outside. Going to a SB party tomorrow so today making goodies. Friend of mine had a building on his farm that he remade into a very nice lounge. He named it after one of my sons that worked for him. So tomorrow pack up some grub and head out there.

23 with a very light snow falling that is not expected to accumulate to even an inch. Hope so. High today around 30. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and then starting Monday we are expecting another cold snap with lows near zero and highs in the low 20’s. Generally these cold snaps come with clear skies so Mr. Sunshine should be around for a few days anyway.

The Ruger Sp101 327 I paid for two weeks ago should be released from the state’s 10 business day waiting period today. The LGS opens at 9:30 and they will send me a text to come in and pick it up. They usually are very prompt with the texts but this is a different location of the same shop here in Deer Park where I usually shop. The local shop is great with texts. I’ll wait for the text as this shop is about 20 miles from home.
