28' and sunny.
I don't think salt was ever used here. Through the years I've never seen rusted out cars and pickups. There is a lot of coarse sand and volcanic cinder used. That is what I remember. At some point de-icer came into play. When frosty, road corners now get sanded and de-Iced. Straightaways usually just get de-icer. When there is a packed accumulation (rare) the whole road will get both.

Around here they use liquid brine which they put down before the first flakes fall. After the snow falls, they just plow.

I just plowed my driveway down to the main road. The forecast is for some snow tomorrow then a lot on Tuesday. I left the tractor handy.

17F here, not going much higher. The sun is out and it's pretty windy.
Coffee this morning with plain Jane.

Jim, I'm very glad Maureen came out well.

We have enough snow here to do some of our winter activities. Mary and I have snowshoe'd and cross country skied for the last few days.

Making bread today. We'll see what else comes up.

I hope you all have a great day.

13 but it’s looking to be another sunny day so we should see 30 or so for the high. There is a storm forecast for Thursday and Friday that could bring some good snowfall for our mountains. Not much here in the valleys but we sure need more snowpack so fingers crossed.

Big event for today is we are getting our eye exam. Whoopie.

43 at 9:30AM under a mostly clear Carolina Blue Sky .... its supposed to get up to 58 later this afternoon before dropping back to 32 overnight .... no rain mentioned until Friday .... no plans to do much outside the house for at least another week .... with the clearing weather I do hope to run Maureen's Blazer through a brush-less car wash to get rid of any salt residue left from our recent snow

13 again this morning with another bright sunny day. Same tomorrow then late Thursday a storm arrives with snow/rain and warmer temps. After a couple of days of that cooling down again next week with the chance of some measurable snow. Hope not, it’s been a great ride so far this winter with no shoveling or plowing.

Looks to be a nice day to pull the motorhome out of the shop and run the motor and the generator for a while. I try to do this monthly weather permitting. Last time was around Christmas as I recall so it’s time.

Still cold at 13 currently at my place and the official Deer Park temp is 8 above. Blue skies above so we should get a look at the 30’s today. Nothing special on tap for today other than keeping the wood stove ablaze. Friday is supposed to be a snow/rain event continuing for a few days. Hoping for more rain than snow.

Pulled the rv out of the shop yesterday and ran the motor and generator. Looks kinda sad surrounding by all the snow.
