17 right now and the upper 20’s later. We may have an overcast that will block the sun, it’s been nice to have several days with sunshine. It’s going to remain cold for the next week and maybe beyond with lows in the teens and highs in the 20’s. I did see 35 for Spokane one day next week.

After a very wet December leading to a good mountain snow pack that was above average we have had a very dry January. Our snow pack is now at 88% of average. Not that we have lost any snow but the fact we haven’t added any. Lots of time remains to accumulate more snow, fingers crossed.

As usual, your forecast mirrors ours. I guess that’s what we get for living in the same area. I’m absolutely loving not having any snow in the valley. I’ve got most of next years fire wood cut into 10’ lengths and ready to split in the spring. I finally got tired of tripping over the tractor chains, so put them aside (but close at hand). We still have more snow up high than we got all last year, and I’m guessing Feb and March will add to that.

Same here and in the Cascades on the snow pack.

we've been home for about 24 hours .... as expected, with the surgery pain killers now out of her system, she's hurting more than yesterday .... her first in-home Physical Therapy has just ended .... I've had so much Physical Therapy that it doesn't take me long to figure out just how capable the therapist is .... happy to be able to say the lady that is going to be working with her is a good one .... the temp at 3:30PM is 37 .... due to icy areas on roads throughout the county no school today .... with it supposed to get down to 19 overnight, if they are able to hold school tomorrow, my bet is there will be a late start ....

I was given a prescription for pretty good pain meds after my knee replacement but that was 10 years ago and I guess that's not the norm anymore. I had in-home PT twice, she gave me several stretches to do and both she and my doctor said if I was religious about doing them often and every day I wouldn't need any more visits. I did them 3 or 4 times a day and had good results, most of the stretches could be done laying on the couch or sitting in a chair.

15 this morning with looks like to be a sunny day ahead. High around 30 and then even colder this weekend. There’s a warm up in the future with maybe some upper 30’s next week.

happy to be able to report that Maureen is doing much better this morning .... yesterday's Physical Therapy really helped her in being able to manipulate a walker .... she's still on some pretty strong pain meds, we plan to see this afternoon if she is ready cut back on some .... our temp is up to 38 at 10:30AM with a forecast calling for it get up to 45 later today before falling back to 19 overnight .... as anticipated, schools started 2 hours late .... no more "weather events" mentioned in the 10 day forecast .... no major plans on tap for today

I’ve never put chains on a tractor and I bet it’s a bitch.

I used to have a few crane trucks that we used in the ski industry. I’ve chained up tandem duals more times than I care to think about. Single tractor tires are easy once you get a system.

When in my younger days driving my Father's tractor trailers here in the land of ice and snow I hung the iron many times. (That's what we called it to put the chains on).
Nowadays I have two tractors but I only have chains for the one with the loader and snow bucket which I use when the snow gets too high for the plow to push over.
I also have a four wheeler that I chain up in the Winter.
My snow plow blade stays mounted and I have plowed a couple of times this season although right now we don't have much snow on the ground.
I hope it stays that way, but it is Minnesnowda.

15 again today and as hoped yesterday was a beautiful sunny day. Maybe again today and for the next several days. We may get above freezing by the end of next week and if so that will be the first time in at lease a few weeks anyway. Maybe some snow too.

Meeting my son at the RV show in Spokane today, he’s thinking about getting a travel trailer. Be fun to shop and spend his money.

Back in the early sixties the highway department hadn't discovered salt yet. (Now our roads are white with it all Winter until the Spring rains wash it into the ditch), (Is that a good idea?)

Anyway, the roads would pack with snow and we'd just adjust and drive one it. (Not near as bad as one would think).

There was this one hill that was close to our home base. It involved a stop sigh with a left turn and then a big hill in about half a mile. Now you couldn't get up enough speed and with the ice and snow you would often spin out half way up and then Hang the iron, but, there was a small general store right after the stop sign. I used to go in and buy four gallons of bleach and pour it over the driver tires. It would make them gummy and up the hill I would go.

Never heard of that one before have you?

Guys at the dragstrip would pour bleach on their tires. I never thought about doing it for ice and snow.

No Coop, never heard of that trick before but as Sir Henry said about the drag strip it sure makes sense. I started my driving with a 2WD pickup and lived on the hilly part of Spokane. That was some pretty good education in snow/ice driving.

14 this morning but another day of sunshine is expected. That should take the high to the low 30’s. Rinse and repeat until Thursday with a little weather coming in with a warm up.

Absolutely nothing planned today other than my wife giving me a haircut. Living on the edge here in Deer Park.
