How does Badger do in the snow.

I live in a community that is very hilly both up and down like a roller coaster. More than once since I’ve been here a family has moved into a home and all they drive is low slung front wheel drive sedans. It only takes one winter to convince them to either replace their cars or move. My wife’s Explorer is AWD which is good for her as she doesn’t have to remember to put it in 4WD. My pickup is 4WD as is the Jeep. I haven’t driven the Jeep in snow yet since we haven’t’ had any. Bought it last March and it’s been pretty much zippo for snow since.

My driveway is steep but the steep part is short. However it’s at the beginning going in. I have Cooper all season tires on the Explorer but they are petty aggressive for all season tires. Only once have I been stuck going up the driveway, deep fresh snow and my making the nearly 180 degree turn into the driveway. Simply backed out, got some distance and with a good head of steam plowed right up the hill.

I spent a couple winters in Nebraska in the late 70s. Everyone there used to say "People from down south don't know how to drive in the snow.". I've got news for you, the first couple of snows each winter the people there didn't either. I drove an early 70s Pinto back then. RWD, light in the rear end, all season tires vs snow tires. I grew up in Florida, but during my time in Nebraska, I never had an accident, got stuck, or couldn't get where I wanted to go because of the snow.

The ones I saw having the most trouble. 4WD vehicles. They drove faster because of the extra traction, but seemed to not realize that you can't stop any better with 4WD. Disproportionate number of them off the road, or in accidents at intersections.

Badger gets around in the snow just fine; he's full time 4x4. Never had him stuck yet.

I rode Ruby quite often in the Winter especially when we were both younger. Her farrier would braise some carbide to her shoes to give her better traction on ice. I didn't ride her at all her last few years as she had pretty severe arthritis in her knees. She did make to around 27 though.
