Our Morning Coffee and Weather

As I sip my Black Rifle Coffee I am watching the pomp and ceremony of the Jimmy Carter funeral.
Weather you like or respect the man he was still a president of the US and deserves the respect of all.

I lived in the DC area when he was president and could relate several stories about him, but I have one
I like better. One day I and my 11 year old son were at National Airport waiting for my 16 year old daughter
to come in on a flight from Florida. It landed but she did not get off. She had missed her flight.
As I was frantically trying to question Eastern Airlines about her whereabouts, my son went missing. He
disappeared into the crowd.

I found out my daughter was coming in on the next flight and now to find my son. I walked the area around the
arrival gates when I saw a large crowd gathered around someone so I worked my way through the crowd and
got to the front just in time to see my son shaking hands with none other than Billy Carter as the flash bulbs
were popping. Next morning the picture was on the front page of the newspaper.

It was our youngest daughter's birthday yesterday and she and her family drove
out from the city to a Supper Club a friend owns. We had a very nice birthday dinner
with them along with gifts. My youngest Grandson sat beside me and ate a pound of
crab. He's a Carnivore for sure. I had a prime rib. It did snow and they were late getting
there due to traffic, but it was still great.

30 this morning heading to 33 or so. Light snow expected this afternoon but no big accumulation. Then getting cold for the next several days with lows in the teens and highs in the 20’s. And maybe Mr. Sunshine will make an appearance. Hope so.

Finished my outdoor burning yesterday. Notice the difference in the snow from when I started and when I finished. Guess my fire was pretty hot.

our highly publicized "WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 10 AM EST SATURDAY... Heavy mixed wintry precipitation expected. Snow will overspread the forecast area this afternoon and evening, then transition to a mix of sleet and freezing rain tonight. Total snow and sleet accumulations up to two inches and ice accumulations up to two tenths of an inch" appears to be on our doorstep .... as this is being typed our sky is cloudy and as of 11:30AM today's temp has yet to rise above freezing .... in looking at our hourly forecast, when the above warning kicks in the temp will be 34 with a 17% of rain .... between now and 7PM the published chance of precipitation is below 50% and the temp is expected to be above freezing .... from 7PM this evening through thorough 5AM the chance of precipitation will remain high with the temp at or just below freezing .... the watch word throughout that period is "freezing rain" .... it doesn't take a very thick sheet of ice to cause major problems .... with that being the case, with the exception of picking up a couple of grandchildren around 1PM, we have no plans to be away from home between now and when the front is gone .... homemade chili on tap for tonight

as noted above, its cold here .... 2:18PM on 2-10-25 the water in a low spot in our back yard is frozen solid ..... while this does happen from time to time, it sure doesn't very often

Where do you get ammo for it? I have all the reloading equipment and do my own. The problem is getting brass.
The rifle is really fun to shoot. Kinda like a big .22.

Like you I just load my own, I do have an almost full box of factory Long colt ammo, and a full box of the shorts, but won't shoot it.
I've pondered and thought about having the chamber reamed to 32 s&w, and it still may happen.
Here's mine with the 1892 Win., it's a 25-20.

Maybe burn off some of this white dirt.
Looks like we got around 6" of it.
Breeze of 4mph and gusts of 10.
I might slide out there and check it out later.

Really nice Randy. I also have a never fired box of 32 Long Colt. I looked it up a while back and they're worth
quite a bit to collectors.

well, our predicted ice event arrived as scheduled and as advertised .... kids really disappointed this morning when they got up and didn't find any snow .... at 11AM our sky is blue and the temp has risen above freezing to 35 and ice is melting .... for the most part we appear to have dodged the worst of the storm's potential .... pictures below show ice coated surfaces around our place .... aluminum steps into our camper are still ice coated and are too dangerous for me to use .... suspect it will be late afternoon before they thaw .... this is our first ice/snow since 2022 .... a few wrecks were reported earlier and a couple of power poles were cut down ..... predicted high for today is 43 dropping back to 22 tonight .... some slick areas of black ice are anticipated tomorrow morning
