I turned my radiant floor heat up to 72F again. If i loose power i will at least start with a very warm house. I usually do this when it drops below zero.

today's word is "RAIN" .... thunder has been rumbling all morning .... they say the thunder will move off to the east around noon but the rain will hang around until around 7PM at the earliest .... with this weather, we don't have any major items away from home that need to be done today ....

Coop and Sir Henry, sorry winter has found you guys. Doesn’t sound too pleasant for you.

Here it’s 29 and finally no fog. But it is overcast so no sun still. Today is the last dry day with rain and or snow coming in for the next several days. More on and off not steady precipitation so no concerns about roads or shoveling.

So today I plan to get a few outdoor projects completed while it’s still dry. Mrs hatchdog wants me to put a few Christmas decorations up and I need to reload the firewood rack on the patio. Not a bad work load and it will be good to be active.

Do you have dependable power? I have a small propane generator I could use for a couple space heaters, lights and fridge, maybe TV. I'm not too worried about it as in my 72 years here I've only had 1 outage that lasted 1 day and just a very few that lasted a couple of hours or so. We have a not for profit, publicly owned PUD and they keep the power system well maintained. Also since we own 2 dams on the Columbia they can keep the rates down as they sell excess power on the open market. We used to have an Alcoa plant that used a huge amount of power but it's been shut down for years now.

No i do not currently have a generator. Most long time residents tell me they seldom lose power and if they do its only for a very short time. The area is only prone to small outages that get repaired quickly. I can remember in Seattle during the Inauguration Day Storm of 1993 we lost power for a day short of three weeks.

Or my motorhome. I could also use the diesel generator if i turned off the main power breaker to the house.

The low last night was -18F with a 21 mph wind.

The nearest weather station is 5 miles away and 500 feet lower. I always get worst weathwr than what is forecast and actually reported.

Here it’s a balmy 27 and the high should be around 30. A light wind blowing that was a bit cutting when I was just out with the dogs. On and off sun breaks today with a light snowfall coming in overnight. According to the forecast nothing to be concerned about other than the morning commute.

31 with a skiff of snow overnight but it’s stopping now. Won’t amount to anything thankfully. High around 34 and cloudy expected. Rain/snow again overnight tonight but dry tomorrow.

My sister from PA is in town and one of my brothers and I are taking her to lunch today. She’s at her son’s place which is in the far south end of Spokane. Probably 30+ miles from my place. My brother lives right in between so I’ll pick him up. Should be a good time.

Not surprised, it’s a pretty old term for sure, kinda like us.

34 this morning and we had rain overnight that erased that skiff of snow that fell yesterday. Still should be good snow in the mountains. Here in the valleys we are way behind on typical snowfall but our mountains are getting some pretty good depths. Winner winner right? A dry maybe sunny day tomorrow and after a stormy start to the week we may see some pretty decent weather with upper 30’s and on and off sun.

17F heading to 35 with freezing rain then freezing tonight. They say roads are going to be glare ice and I’m the driver to a dinner and play tonight.
