This isn't the only topic on shiny or patina brass.Loner wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 6:30 pmI just (finally) bought my first long awaited Henry carbine in 45 LC, I was wondering about polishing/maintaining the brass (I started having flashbacks to boot camp DI's screaming at me about dull "brightwork"...thankfully, I found this thread and am confidently allowing the brass to age naturally (being naturally lazy, I was going to anyway, but now I wont have the guilt)...I don't clean my truck or my Harley either!

Yes we know. The topic here though is about the Big Boy brass. It is made from a brass alloy. The Happy Kaboomer wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 6:33 pmThe golden boy receiver cover is not brass.......It's brass plated ZAMAC..........Don't believe me?........Call Henry and ask.

As to the brass model 44 I have, I bought it used with a nice patina and love the aged look.
Heck I took the H001 and stripped the receiver cover and barrel band, then let them tarnish a bit and clear coated them.

The Road King rides just as well dirty as it does clean, but I do keep it fairly clean.

Yeah, got it. But, like Mags said, we're talking about the BB brass CF rifles here. Not the .22's.The Happy Kaboomer wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 6:33 pmThe golden boy receiver cover is not brass.......It's brass plated ZAMAC..........Don't believe me?........Call Henry and ask.
