It’s down in the single digits already. The low was forecast to be 12 but it’s already 7F. It’s also windy at 22 mph. The nearest weather station is 15 miles away and 400 feet lower and we are often much colder and windier than the weather forecast. I wish Timms Hill had a weather station.

That's it Gene! maybe the next thing for your place should be a small weather station.Sir Henry wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 9:44 pmIt’s down in the single digits already. I have the same problem but in the other direction. The official weather is recorded at the Deer Park airport which is about three miles to the west. The official temp there is always a few degrees colder than here at my place. I’m good with that!
My thermometer is reading 28 and today is supposed to be similar to yesterday with a cold damp foggy morning leading to sun breaks in the afternoon. High in the mid 30’s just like yesterday. My big plans for the day are to watch the Seahawks in the morning and take a load to the dump in the afternoon. Yeah I know, how do I sleep at night with all this excitement.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
at noon its in the upper 40's which is cold for this time of year in our part of the country .... they say today at 55 is the warmest we will have until the end of the week so I've just come in from airing up the tires on our Freightliner Sportchassis as well as those on our daughter's Suburban ..... I never cease to be perplexed as to how with both knee joints having been replaced they can still be affected by the cold ..... our club's last camping gathering for this year is scheduled for this coming weekend and the nights are supposed to be in the low 20's .... so far as I can tell all of our camper's heating systems are good to go .... for that we are very thankful
Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Had our first freezing temp this morning. Along with that our first frost. 28'. Sunny with thin fog.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
The official weather station here is at the local airport. I don't care that much about the temperature difference but since the airport is located on the slopes of the Columbia River valley and I'm in a smaller side canyon the wind speed can vary a lot. A lot of time they predict 20+mph gusts so I put up the 5th wheel canopy and we end up getting hardly any wind at all.Hatchdog wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 9:49 amSir Henry wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 9:44 pmIt’s down in the single digits already. It was open. What I call the dump is actually a transfer station. 30+ years ago Spokane County put a waste to energy plant in use west of town and two transfer stations, one north and one east. Trash is moved from the stations to the burner via truck. The transfer stations are only closed on major holidays.
The coldest morning for the season today at 24. High is expected to only be in the low to mid 30’s but we should see some sun. Should be a nice afternoon to take the dogs for a hike.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Didn't type much this AM so now I'll finish it out.
Culligan came bright and early to repair our R/O system which Miss Carol uses a lot. That's done.
Generac guy came to do yearly maintenance on our 24KW Generac. That's done.
My shop guy said to bring the old snow plow up and he'd get the work done on it that's needed. I took it up there.
Carol wanted me to take the motorhome into town and get Winter diesel and propane and get it put away so she could reduce the insurance. Done.
Now I'm warming up and will shower shortly. We have reservations for a formal wine tasting dinner with friends this evening.
Busy day.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
You are welcome.
We've had some burn time now for a couple of months. Seems the box of fatwood we recently bought has a bunch of duds in it. Are you seeing any?

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Yes including one this morning. I looked at a cheaper brand of fat wood on Amazon earlier this year but decided against it due to complaints of duds. So I bought the “good stuff” from Plow and Hearth and yep, some duds. Not many but enough to be annoying.
Despite all that it’s a warm morning here inside with the fire roaring but a cold 29 outside. We may gain 2-3 degrees today but not any more. Yesterday the upper fog never burned off and it stayed cold and gloomy all day and didn’t get above freezing. More of the same until the weekend when we expect warmer temps with some rain/wet snow.
We’re making a trip to Idaho today as I need to renew my Idaho Enhanced CWP. This permit gives me the ability to carry concealed in many more states than my resident Washington permit. Five year permit with a price of $30, good deal on both the price and expiration date. To get this enhanced version I had to take a class that was 50% classroom and 50% range time.

I have Minnesota enhanced with Florida which clears me to carry in all states where it is legal.Hatchdog wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 8:48 amWe’re making a trip to Idaho today as I need to renew my Idaho Enhanced CWP. Drive safe. I have Utah CFP (5yrss) and Oregon CHL (4yrs). Utah gives me the ability to carry in 31 states. Oregon is just Oregon, so total of 32 states. I did not have to travel to Utah to get it. I had to provide proof of training from a Utah recognized/certified training organization and proof of ID. I do not remember what the fees were.Hatchdog wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 8:48 am...

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Good morning, another chilly start, 29 and headed towards the mid 50's.
Scored 380+ lbs. of clean lead yesterday at .50 cents a lb.
Got to work today,
not long though, just a couple hrs.
I also have the enhanced permit, I'd have to look, but I believe I'll be up for renewal next year.
