The 76.3 years is the life expectancy of a male born today. Back in 1949 it was 73.2 years. The fact that I’m still alive today at 74 (soon to be 75) I can expect to live 11.3 more years. The social security tables when I was 65 said I would live to be 82.3 years.

I go back to the Madison VA Hospital for the seventh time today. Actually my appointment is for tomorrow but driving round trip in one day is too far so the VA puts me up in a motel. I expect the doctor will give me the okay to be more active. I feel great although I can’t lift much without it hurting.

I went to see my former student and eye doctor yesterday up in Montgomery. I told her my vision was looking through a dirty shower glass. She performed some test and said I was definitely ready for cataract surgery. She said the eye injections I'm taking sped up the process of damage to the lens. She said it was like a "concussion" to the eye. I'm calling the referred doctor today to see when I can get it taken care of.

Cataract surgery really changed my life for the better.

I had a CAT scan and MRI today along with some blood work. The good news is I got a clean bill of health. The bad news is, well there isn’t any bad news.

I’ll be spending Thanksgiving with my new adopted family nearby before driving home on Saturday.

The procedure sounds scary, but it wasn't bad at all.

It’s scary for about two minutes. Literally. I can see 20/20 without glasses and 20/20+ with a slight correction. I still need reading glasses so I wear glasses all the time even though I don’t really need them.

My Bill had his second cataract surgery today. Went great. I'm next in line. My cataracts aren't too bad, yet, but they are bad enough to cause issues shooting with iron sights, so I'm getting them done, too.

Mine were really bad. It was amazing that my eyes deteriorated so much in about 90 days. Then even more amazing was how much better in just two minutes.

I had mine done about four years ago. I had them put in distance lenses but I can read most pages including the computer without glasses. Went for my annual checkup last week and still 20 20 both eyes. I an glad that you are taking care of this as you will be amazed at the improvement.

My cataracts were impacting my use of iron sights. After the surgery, no problems with the iron sights.

30+ years ago I had the LASIK surgery for correction and it was a piece of cake and the results were wonderful. Now all these years later I’m starting to struggle with my vision finding anytime I’m in a big store like Costco every thing is a blur. I’ve started wearing my glasses that I have for night time driving more and more often. I’m due for an eye exam and I’m wondering if I have a cataract problem developing.

I’ll be praying for you. The cataract surgery will be fine. After I had mine I told my wife I did know our toilet tissue was trout white it always looked sort of a very soft off white color to me. The cancer you can beat, thanks to so much new and better procedures and options. Hang in there buddy!
