Yes our AMM only has 2 members but my buddy doesn’t do the whole camping deal too much so I am out there keeping 1820 alive by myself mostly. But that’s ok. I enjoy the solitude and the grizzlies have taught me to sleep with one eye open, another handy skill to possess. ;)

Shot this morning, flintlock, lots of steel gongs rung at 50 and 75 yds. 70 grains Schuetzen 3fg, .480 ball with an .010 patch. Made lots of smoke :)

Might camp next weekend, nights are down in the 20's now but hot coffee & meat on the fire tastes pretty good this time of year.

Yep the $2 would get me a small gas station coffee. But I am pretty sure your shooting skill would win you a pretty fat turkey.

Grizzlies are no fun when up close. Our friend down southeast of Pincher showed me a photo his neighbor allegedly took. If you didn’t already have a healthy respect for G-Bears, this pic will do it for ya!

they say first shot may kill them ,but it won't stop them!
I was told a story (don't know if it's true or not) of a guy that was charged by a large grizzly, he was carrying a large caliber handgun and shot it center mass 5 times but it kept coming. He fired his last shot and hit it between the eyes which stunned and stopped it. When they dressed out the grizzly they found that he had hit it in the heart 2 or 3 times so it was dying but probably would have killed the guy first if not for that last shot.

The grizzly has such a massive circulatory system that you may have hit it with a kill shot but it keeps coming like a freight train anyway. I've seen them many times over the years when horseback in the mountains. Be aware and cautious in grizz country or end up bear crap. :)

Did some shooting with the flintlock this morning, had a great time ringing steel at 50 and 75 yds. Might do some camping next weekend, speaking of grizz country...
