I always ask "Do you have anything interesting in the back?" There is always something interesting I'm finding. When I saw this and it's pristine condition, I couldn't say no. I'm glad I didn't either. It's a Winchester model 94AE in .44 magnum. It was made in the USA before US Repeating Arms stopped production in Conn.

Now that's my idea of a great find. It's the prefect AE vintage without the crossbolt safety, which was added in 1992. Should make a great shooter for you, Dave.

Great find. I would have grabbed that also, since it is a fine example of USRA's work. I think you will be impressed with the silky smooth action and that it dumps spent cases near your right foot. I have a 1997 94AE (with cross bolt safety) in 45 Colt and it my favorite lever gun.

Congratulations on picking up a classic! One of those came up on our local guntrader site this week and didn’t last a day before it got scooped up.

Nice snag there Boss, I just love some pre-safety Winchesters and Marlins.
Congrats, looks to be in nice shape also.
I have an early AE, but mine is a 30-30.
A friend I grew up with had a 44 Win., but I'm pretty sure it was before the AE was introduced.
Yeah, I just looked and they were introduced in '83.

I just took it outside to see where it hit. Dead on. Can't ask for more. My stepson came over and took a few shots with it. Very nice gun.
