Hammer spring

After shooting today I've decided that I need a lighter hammer spring. Is Granger still the place to get them, or does a member have one I can buy? My rifle is a later model in .357.

Is that the Granger industrial supply company and if so how do you know what spring to use other than length? Interesting!

Its been a while since I went thru all that with the springs Forty but it had to do with the inch pounds of the spring. I take no credit for the research on what worked as I got the info for the springs from another forum that I visit. One of the posters there did the researc for the springs. This spring is 31 inch pounds and the Henry original was over 50 inch pounds. Your thumb would need to be like Hulk Hogans biceps to cock it on a regular basis. Kinda like the hammer spring on the GP-100 I just went thru changing. Yes on your question of it being Granger industrial supply

I've got a question. You said this was a later model single shot. Is the box marked V2? Is your gun subject to Henry's recall? I'm asking this after going the Grainger spring route with a pre-recall .44 Mag SS. At 31 lbs I was getting light strikes and misfires and the trigger pull was still awful. I sent it back once and it returned with less creep but still a very heavy hammer and trigger pull. When it was sent back for the recall it came home with a very decent and clean 4lb. trigger and it didn't require gorilla strength to cock the hammer.

Since then I've picked up three more SS's of the V2 version and triggers and hammer pulls are very good on all of them.

Yup mine was sent back also 5Shot and mine is decent for sure. I did all this work on mine before that recall happened. But I never had any light strikes with mine.

My rifle was made after the recall and has the dimple in the trigger guard. It has a pretty good trigger but the hammer is hard to cock. I'll let you know how it goes after I change the spring. If it helps that will be great, if not, I can live with the factory spring.

The USPS never fails to amaze me at how inefficient they really are. A week ago today I sent this and they told me Friday. Its been sitting in Memphis Tn for about 4 days now with no movement. What a joke they are.
