rain from remnants of Hurricane Helene are moving back through our area dropping steady rain .... no lightening or thunder, hardly any wind .... the current rain band is supposed to be out of here in an hour or so .... 65% chance off and on for the rest of the day .... we have many friends and relatives who live in Western NC .... thankfully, all are physically OK but the scope of property damage is really hard to believe .... my first intensive session of in home physical therapy us scheduled for later this morning .... while I'm dreading it in one way, I'm happy its here .... really looking forward to getting back to as normal as I can get ....

The official Deer Park temp right now is 26  but thankfully my thermometer shows 33 and I just checked the lawn and no frost so 33 is probably correct. The low 60’s and sunshine is expected so it will be a nice day once it warm up a little bit. Then nice all week with nice fall like temps and plea to of sunshine.

Spent three hours yesterday cleaning guns. Note to self, don’t take so many guns to the range……naaaa trips to the range are not all that frequent so a little time spent cleaning is just fine, What’s that old movie quote? “I love the smell of solvent in the morning”.

Fall has officially arrived. Yesterday I took advantage of the warm
weather to wash windows. I got most of them done but still have
a few to go. I had to use the extension ladder todo the top floor.
I know, old folks aren't supposed to do that but there's no one else
to do it.
The duck and goose hunters are on the lake but it's too warm and nothing
is moving yet.

very muggy 72 degrees that feels like 80 .... actual high temp predicted today 79 .... 63% chance of rain after lunch .... right knee replaced one week ago ===> removed bandage earlier this morning .... incision appears to be in good shape .... removing the bandage noticeably reduced the feeling of pressure in the knee area

^^^^^^^^

OUCH!

36 this morning with a promise of a nice October day. Sunny and the upper 60’s but it’s supposed to get windy later.

Spending the day helping my neighbor pile limbs from a tree thinning/limbing project. He’s 72 or so and she’ my age and they bit off way more than they can chew. Plan is to pile and tarp and then burn when the snow flies. Pretty sure right now they are wishing they would have had the cutting crew chip them up.

45 this morning with the sun peeking thru the trees. 62 for the high with sunny skies but windy expected. Today is run around day and the dogs are going to doggie daycare. Hope to get them good and tired as we are going out tonight. Mrs hatchdog is a big fan of musicals particularly old features from the 60’s and 70’s. So tonight we’re going to the off Broadway production of Funny Girl. Downtown Spokane after dark, yuk. And with the metal detectors at the Opera House I won’t be able to bring my EDC. Don’t like that a bit.

A cold one today at 31 on my thermometer and 27 according to the official weather station. But it’s going to be a sunny 60 something day which is just fine. My son is bringing his chimney brush over on Saturday so I may start having a fire in the stove here pretty soon.

Planning on getting out and doing some more “get ready for winter” chores today. I was up pretty late last night as we went to a show downtown so I’ll probably quit early and hit the recliner for some reclining.

physical therapy ---- what a way to start the day .. :!: :?: :!: .. per our usual experience, my knee will feel much better once the ice kicks in .... next week 3 more in home sessions an the post surgery followup appointment .... after then, I'll settle in for two possibly, three sessions per week for outpatient physical therapy for who knows how long predicted high today 82, tomorrow 81 .... after that, a cooling trend is supposed to move in resulting in our highs moving into the mid 70's ....

I've had physical therapy three times now. I separated my right shoulder a few years ago and
it keeps popping up wanting attention. The first two time were hairy chested jocks that weren't
much fun to see, but last time was a very pretty young woman who was very hands on as well.
I'd go back to her even if I wasn't hurting. (Don't tell my Wife).

41 this morning which is quite a bit warmer than it’s been for the last few days. Had a storm come thru a couple of days ago that brought some rain. Happy for that be we sure need more. A very nice fall week ahead with lows in the upper 30’s and highs in the upper 60’s and sunny. Time to start getting winter preps started. Today I’m planning on changing the oil in the motorhome engine and generator. Tomorrow I’ll do the boat motor and get it put away for the winter. Not going to winterize the rv just yet, you never know,,..

I’ve sure been gone a lot lately. First I spent five days in Necedah at the camp-inn followed two days in Madison at the VA Hospital. Then it was two days in Wisconsin Dells visiting friends. Now it’s back to Wisconsin Dells for three more days before swinging down to Illinois to pick up a Fisher wood burning stove for my new shop.

When I get back I will have driven 1,500 miles in two weeks.

its been a beautiful day ..:).. they predicted a high of 81 today but it doesn't appear we will make it .... currently 78 and that's about as high as its likely to get .... all in all, its been a quiet but good day .... delighted to see Hurricane Milton is probably going to cross into the Atlantic and bypass our area completely
