What's for dinner?

Post by daytime dave » Fri Sep 27, 2024 5:24 pm

I went to the garden to pick a cabbage. A large green cabbage was more than ready to come inside. A huge cauliflower was also ready.
I made smothered cabbage and cauliflower soup. MMM mmmm . Both were really good. The smothered cabbage was made with jowl bacon and onions. The soup was pork sausage, carrots, onions and cauliflower.

It's time for me to make my vegetable beef soup and freeze a bunch for the Winter.

I have stew bones from when we got our quarter of beef from the farmer so I simmer them in salty water for a couple of
hours until the meat falls off the bone and the marrow is cooked out. Then it's onions, garlic, red and green peppers, celery,
water and lots of chopped cabbage. I cook that until softened and then add fresh tomatoes if I have them and if not cans of chopped
tomatoes will do, tomato paste, salt, pepper, and them some Jalapenos. Not too many but enough to give it a little kick.

I make it every Fall and I love it.

Black beans and rice.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.
