The EL MALO twins !

Post by fortyshooter » Sun Sep 22, 2024 8:09 pm

Yes this pair of 45 Colt shooters, called EL MALO 2, proved to be a very handy backup if you need more when your primary 6 shooter is emptied!

I had recently sold my Anaconda and the Ruger 44 Special Flat Top and happened to see these very interesting Cimarron short barreled 45's on Buds Guns. Had not seen these before and ordered a pair and picked them up last week. Build quality really nice and tight with the trigger pull just a spring change away from getting it where I like. Love the birds head type grip and the 3 1/2 inch octagonal barrel and a nice match up to my Henry 45 Colt Carbine. Maybe the type revolver Henry should have made ya think?

Anyway each one fits just right in my back pockets with no holster really needed and the draw is very nice...just remove them if you want to sit! :D
So there I am down at the Saloon when a bunch of trouble pops up and when my Running Iron 45 was dry the twins came out to play...one in each hand... with bad guys hitting the trail!
First shots shooting left and right handed, I am a Lefty, not bad on target paper from8 yds. and shooting the steel targets went well shooting both...watch video if you can. VIDEO https://youtu.be/Ogl2t5KpFIo?si=_gozX8BQyXG1NAoc
They feel good in the hand and stay planted with the 250 and 255 gr. 45 Colt loads using BE-86 and Unique. Made for a FUN Sunday afternoon shoot!

Nice forty, congrats on the new acquisitions.
I like the birds head grips and the octagon barrels.
Nice collection of 45 colts you have there.

Beautiful guns, and nice shootin. You need a Doc Holiday combo. Belt rig, for you on the left hip, then shoulder rig for your right hand gun...

Yeah I might check in on that holster setup. I have one Mernickel holster that is for Left side for 3 1/2 inch Colt SA.

Yeah it was fun shooting those 2 and I did better than I thought shooting the steel. The pair handle really well and easy on the hand with the 45 Colt loads.

Any luck finding holsters?

Well I have a Mernickle SA holster for my Taylor/Uberti 45 Colt same barrel length but the octagonal barrel of the El Malo makes for a tighter fit.
Will shop around later for a correct holster setup for those.
