Burris Full Field II. Maybe with the Ballistic Plex. These scopes punch way above their weight grade. Not expensive, excellent tracking, very good glass and durable. Worth a look.

I know where there is a nice glossy Leupold Vari-X II 2-7X. on a 44 magnum Henry.

I put a Leupold on my H010 45/70, very pleased with it so far. Don't recall ever having a problem with them.
I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

Thanks, Tom.

I'm in the same boat JEBar. Nikon was my go to brand of scope for so many years, adding in Leupolds when I could afford them. Fortunately, I still have plenty of spare scopes to last for awhile, but if I had to start shopping for new scopes, right now, not sure where I would go other than Leupold.

Thanks, though I don't have any Indian in my DNA. :)

Swarovski? Oh, yeah, I've looked at their scopes when I could find a shop that actually carried them. Breathtaking quality and optics. Same with Zeiss or even Kahles or Meopta. With these brands, though, you can easily pay more for the scope than the rifle.

historically, all of the rifle scopes I have purchased are Nikons .... sadly, that is no longer possible and I've got to make up my mind where to start looking .... my first thought has been Leupold but that is far from etched in stone .... that's a market I've been out of for so long that I really don't know what options are out there
I agree with you on the Nikons, I have several and am Sad that they quit the scope business.
I only have one Leupold, it's a 1.5x4 and on the shorty 35.
I have a pair of Redfield Revolution 2-7x33's which were made by Leuplod.
They've also been discontinued, in the past few years I've picked up a couple of the Vortex scopes.
I like them pretty well, and serve my purposes quite well. I do keep an eye open for the Redfields.
A good friend up in Wis. found a brand new one Fri. afternoon up near him somewhere.

I used a lot of Burris handgun scopes back in the day and still do. Probably my favorite pistol scopes, overall. Burris has been more highly regarded than Leupold in the specialty pistol community from way back, mostly because Burris had a lot more variety in there pistol scope line and some of the models were made with specialty pistols in mind. Leupold has always been pretty conservative in their pistol scope line. They don't even make a pistol scope, now, and the prices on used Leupold pistol scopes are now getting crazy.

The old Denver made Redfield pistol scopes and the Japanese made Tasco and Simmons pistol scopes are also very good and can often be found at lower prices, though prices have been on the rise, lately, thanks to the fact that not much being made in pistol scopes these days. Scopes on handguns are not popular, anymore. I use them more than ever, though, because I'm still shooting specialty pistols a lot.
