Adjusting Henry Front Sights

I've been using a brass punch and hammer to remove/replace/adjust the front sights on my Henrys, but I can't help but think there has to be a better way. Does anyone know of a sight adjustment tool that works on Henry dovetail front sights?

Haven't heard of one. At least it's a on time adjustment.

Sir Henry offered this as an alternative to the brass punch and hammer. Looks like it would work great.

I fastened a spent .22 LR cartridge (Gorilla glue) to a punch. Ground off one side to make it flat and have a homemade brass punch. Only thing I have ever used on dovetail sights.

I tried adjusting mine and it would not budge, I didn't want to hit it hard enough to dent it or take of the bluing so I adjusted the rear.

You don't have to hit it hard but you do need to hit it firm.

Vise with leather strips on the jaws or use poly grip blocks. But a sight adjustment tool specific for Henry rifles is not available.

Front sight post are always hard to adjust cause there at the end of the barrel and the manufacture doesn't want the front sight post to move if it's hit like dropping the rifle or the shooter hit a tree when there out hunting. Adjustments should be made to the rear sight if the shooter needs to adjust side to side. If one needs to adjust the front sight....a heavy secure vise, leather strips on the vise jaws, a brass punch and a hammer is the best tools to use.
