What powder are you using Paul? Ive got a 10 in a Smith N frame. A 610 4 inch barrel. Ive shot the 10 in 1911. Its got some jump to it.Headhog wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 12:16 pmVentured Into new territory. Put together some 10mm Auto loads to test out at my daughter’s house next weekend. Never loaded these before and as with everything new it was a learning experience. Biggest headache was readjusting the 40 S&W dies to 10mm.

On the left is a 180 gr hi-tek coated bullet and on the right is a 220 gr lead flat point. According to the load data the 180 gr should go about 1100-1150 fps with the 220 gr going about 950 fps. Mainly want to see function and feeding in a 1911.

These loads are using Winchester 244. I also have TiteGroup and Universal to try. I just picked the powder I had the most of on hand. We’ll see how it goes.BigAl52 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 12:55 pmWhat powder are you using Paul? Ive got a 10 in a Smith N frame. A 610 4 inch barrel. Ive shot the 10 in 1911. Wet tumbled around 100 32 H&R cases that I will load soon. I did some load development several months ago and kinda forgot about finishing up. Settled on 5.3 grains of Blue Dot under a Hornady 85 grain XTP. Book shows 1100 fps for this load. I’ll be shooting these in my Ruger Single Seven and should be a real mild load in it.
Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
Got 125 32 H&R cases sized, primed and expanded. Now to charge and seat some bullets. Heading up to the lake week after next which is only around 20 miles from my little range. I’m planning on giving the single sever a run so need to finish these up. Hornady 85 gr XTP over 5.3 grains of Bluedot.
Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
I got a new range bag from Midway. Its there competition bag. A friend of mine had one and I really liked the looks of it. My range box is plastic and falling apart at the hinge. So I need to put my range gear out of that box into the bag. Box is going in the trash

Finished up charging and seating 126 32 H&R Mags. Now of to the unloading bench to dispose of them using the Ruger Single Seven. Might run some thru my Big Boy .327 to see if they will feed.

I was thinking you had one of the 327's, hope they function in it.
If so, should be a hoot to shoot 'em through it.

Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
Not specifically a loading bench project, since my loading bench is far to cluttered at the moment, but I put together an AR lower yesterday. I was a very active Service Rifle shooter for a long time, but haven't shot a match since they allowed optics. I have two uppers for SR, and another one that was going to be a Match Rifle upper, but that has a 24X scope on it now, and it's what I let people shoot if they're interested, since it's easy to make hits with at distance. My lower is under that upper right now.
Anyway, when the laws were changing where I live, I bought a stripped lower and it's been sitting and waiting. Over the past months, I got the full lower parts kit from White Oak, and a MagPul UBR2 stock with the carbine length spring and buffer. They were also sitting and waiting. Santa brought the trigger last Christmas. So with it being a rainy day yesterday, I sat down and laid everything out on the table, watched a couple YouTube videos, and put it all together. Had to work backwards a few times, and disassemble a little to put the trigger in, went with a Geissele for that. Some of this would have worked better with a third hand, like lots of these kinds of jobs, but it's done. Wish I could tell you it went smooth the whole way, but I did stop a few times for dinner and other interruptions. And every time pieces went flying, I found all of them, and got them where they needed to go.
I put one of the SR uppers on it and it dry functions just fine. I may put a few rounds downrange with it today. Without that big piece of lead in the stock, the balance is different, but not bad.

Very warm and humid morning so I am making .36 cal. paper cartridges while watching movie Tombstone.
Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
My office is also my reloading room, tool storage room, and home repair workshop. We don't have a garage, but it's a good space and fits my needs well. It's also a 10x12 room. My office work area and reloading bench were suffering. Between editing books 2, 3, and 4 and reloading a few months ago, I had no place to work. My wonderful wife surprised me with a gift: a way to organize my reloading gear and piles of tools.
