CZ Trials And Tribulations 11/27/16
CZ Trials And Tribulations 11/27/16
Well, today was a puzzling day at the range with my CZ 452. First, though, the positive. My CZ mostly seems to have expensive tastes in 22 LR ammo. Except... for some reason it "likes" the lowly Remington Thunderbolt ammo. I was able to get a 1 inch three shot group with it today at 100 yards. I'm gonna have to practice a bit more with that stuff. It's very inexpensive.
Meanwhile, I also shot six or seven three shot groups with SK Rifle Match. When I went down and looked at my target, I was very frustrated. Almost every group had two shots touching... and a third about an inch out. Hrmph. Dunno if those were fliers caused by me or by the ammo, or what. I would have stayed longer to try again, but by that time it was getting too crowded, and I had shooters on both sides of me who were blowing me off my bench with their AR's.
Still, a sunny day, with temps in the mid-40's? A day like that in Wisconsin at the end of November is something to be savored.

A bad day at the range beats a good day at work. Great that you got out to shoot.

Glad you got in some gunsmoke aroma therapy time. Sometimes I will have one of those days when one gun just has it's own agenda. Next time out it is dead on accurate.
Load on Sunday and Shoot all Week.......okay it's a Mare's Leg I will reload on Wednesday.

As for my results I'm pretty sure that was me and not the gun or the ammo. Looks like I will need to continue my regimen of regular trips to the range to "work" on improving my marksmanship. This may take years.

I've heard others praise the Thunderbolts but your CZ really loves them.

Some of the criticisms of them have validity. They're dirty, and can cause leading. OTOH, they're also an old product that was designed for bolt action and single shot guns. I suspect many of those who complain about them are trying to shoot them in semi-auto guns.Sir Henry wrote:I've heard others praise the Thunderbolts but your CZ really loves them.

I bought two single shot .22 rifles in the last few months. I may try the thuderbolts on them.ditto1958 wrote:Some of the criticisms of them have validity. They're dirty, and can cause leading. Now what you mean about the weather. Pretty weird to be the first of December and not have snow cover. Did have some snow squalls while shooting the 911s at the range, today, but nothing that accumulated.
Have had new CZs that did the 2 or 3 shots touching and then a couple off, but the more I shot them, the tighter things got. How old is your gun?

My CZ is brand new. I've only had it for a few weeks. The trigger has gotten a bit better with use. It's accuracy potential is astounding. The "problem" is that it makes me want to go to the range every day to work on shooting it better.North Country Gal wrote:Now what you mean about the weather.
