Yesterday Carol went into a downstairs closet to get some items and found the ceiling collapsed.
Some critters, (probably chipmunks), had chewed through the floor joyce from under the garage
and filled the space with gravel until the weight was too much. We called our favorite contractor
and he says after he cleans up the mess he will foam the area and redo the ceiling.

^^^^^^ yikes Coop, that’s a strange one indeed.

63 here with a red sun a-rising (smoke). High today in the upper 80’s to lower 90’s and windy. 20 mph sustained and gusts to 30. Could be a bad day if a fire breaks out. Temps next week are forecast to be in the lower 80’s, looking forward to that. I have some weed spraying to do and it’s been too hot for the product to work properly.

Finally woke up to a temp in the 50’s but barely at 59. Still feels good out there. High should be around 90 but we have a nice cool down coming next week with temps in the 80’s, no 90’s. Yea.

Gonna get out early and mow the lawn then Mrs. Hatchdog wants me to take her to Lowe’s so she can watch me load some stepping stones into the pickup. Not looking forward to that but she understands that they will not be installed until next week with the cooler temps. (Bet the nagging starts right away  )

Woke up to a warm 63, where did those overnight 50’s go? High today in the mid 80’s and low to mid 80’s for the week. Next week’s highs could be in the 70’s. Sure liking the direction the temps are going. Already made myself a list of outdoor chores to do with these cooler temps. Starting today I’ll be spraying weeks, it’s been too hot for the chemicals to work properly. Then this afternoon we’re heading to Lowe’s to pick up some flagstone pavers to do that project we’ve been talking about for a month. Who wants to sling flagstones around when it’s 98* :( . Thankfully me wife has made the project smaller and less labor intensive by eliminating the placing of them in the lawn. Only in the gravel walkway from the patio to the gate, much easier.

Had a nice cool day yesterday with a high around 80. Nice cool temps last night and only 52 right now. (Up way too early) Today is another nice day at 83 but tomorrow tickles 90 again. Taking the car into Spokane for an oil change and then I may finish reloading some 32 H&R mags. Polished and sized just waiting for me to get back to ‘em’.

My thermometer is showing 55 but the official temp is 46. Yesterday with my thermometer showing 53 I headed out on the dog hike in a light sweatshirt. After a few seconds I added a hoodie as it was very cool out there. Official temp yesterday was 44 which I think was much more accurate than my home thermometer. Sure is nice to enjoy some cooler temps. Hitting the golf course today with a forecast high of 88. I’ll be wanting the temps we have right now I’m sure.

60 right now and we did get a little bit of rain last night. Emphasis on “little”. But it’s enough that I plan to mow my trail today. It’s about a half mile loop and I make three passes with a tow behind brush cutter. The dogs and I take a hike every morning on it and it’s getting pretty brushed up. Mostly the ferns that grow at the bottom which seems to have a bit of sub irrigation. Then mow the lawn. Both chores I enjoy doing but then I have always been accused of not being like all the other little boys on the block.

We got back last Sunday from our latest journey. We started off in Duluth just east of the lift bridge
at a convention the wife attends, and from there went to a Dude Ranch just west of St Cloud for
four days of Blue Grass. We have attended this event for several years now but this year we heard
four brothers who not only did blue grass but also a lot of western music. One of my favorites is their
rendition of "Cool Water". Absolutely perfect.
They are the Waddington Brothers and I think as they mature you'll be hearing a lot from them in the future.

Take a look at the video of who they are. The two middle brothers are identical twins by the way.

I checked my rain gauge about 45 minutes ago when I got home and it measured just under 1.5”. Then the skies opened and it poured for about 30 minutes before tapering off. I ventured out five minutes ago and saw this. It’s just under 4” which means about 2.5” fell in about a half hour.

I took this picture from the upstairs window. You can see the water but what you don’t see is how fast it’s moving. The road up to the right is my new driveway to the new garage. The red is fresh clay that is eroding.
