I got up early this morning to take pictures of my hayfield after it had been baled. I went to a ballgame last night and they were hauling the hay away so I had to get up early to get some pictures. I had a visitor looking for mice. He caught several in just a few minutes.

The top picture was taken with my cell phone and below was taken with my Nikon. It’s amazing how the electronics record things different. That’s Timms Hill top center.

These bales are about five feet high. This picture was taken from my highest point. I’m only about 20 feet lower than Timms Hill. There are seven points in about four square miles that are all within a few feet with Timms Hill being the highest. My hill is about fourth.

I was wondering the same thing. They are quite dry and I would guess 800 pounds.

It can depend on the type of grass, but somewhere between a 1000-1200 lbs. on average.
I've moved a bunch of them, I've never ran the baler, but I've cut, raked and moved a BUNCH,

I like coyotes and wolves. The coyotes eat a lot of mice. The wolves kill a lot of deer but since they were reintroduced the wasting disease has gone way down. Hunters don’t like hearing that as there are less deer but the ones remaining are far more healthy.

Me, too, Gene. We could use some wolves to thin our neighborhood deer herd. Our neighborhood is all small acreages so no one hunts anymore, making the deer population way too high. This means our neighborhood forest is badly over-browsed and has been for a long time. It's not a healthy forest and after our record mild winter, we're seeing a bumper crop of fawns this summer. We mostly have fox in our neighborhood, though I did hear a coyote way off in the distance the other night.

Coyotes are great for your place Gene, that’s a great pic you got. Recently had a neighbor lose a chicken to a coyote so that one needs a dirt nap.

Bumper crop for hay this year but the corn isn’t even worth harvesting. I was in Madison earlier this week and the southern Wisconsin corn is doing great.

Wisconsin has harsh winters but the summers are fantastic!

Your neck of the woods is beautiful. If I had the big money you other fellas have, I would buy a similar piece of property in Wisconsin and keep my property in South Carolina. Summer in WI, winter in SC. I would dodge WI winters and SC summers. Best of both worlds.

Snow shovels and snow blowers are unknown in South Carolina but summers can be brutal.

That was my original plan. Summer here in Wisconsin and then take the class A diesel pusher and winter in it in the south. The motor home is 21 years old and makes the perfect guest house and tv room but I’m not sure I would trust it on the road. Plus while winters are brutal here they are also fun especially for someone retired like me. About March and April when it’s not winter and not spring is when I want to get away. I’m thinking my teardrop would be great to hit the road for six weeks.

We just sold our 2002 diesel pusher, not because it wasn't road worthy, but because I wanted more room. Depending on the mileage and the care taken it's probably just fine to take on the road.

Unlike you we do live in ours for weeks at a time in all kinds of weather so the DP suits our needs.

Unlike you we do live in ours for weeks at a time in all kinds of weather so the DP suits our needs.
We had a Scamp trailer prior to our first motor home and the confinement in rainy weather was not to my liking.

No I don’t need her permission to sell it but I did need the permission to buy it. I think for me it’s more valuable to leave it in place. I couldn’t add on to the house for what I could sell it for. We lived in it for several months with everything I owned for months while I was looking for a home. My memories of it on the road were stressful and now it’s peaceful.

I’m in it now watching the NHRA drags.
