Our Morning Coffee and Weather

Morning everyone, having one cup of Rio Grande Dark Roast from the Keurig this morning. Rather overcast and 42* here this morning. I'll get my gear ready today and head for the mountains tomorrow until Tuesday afternoon. See if there are any legal buck running around Monday morning. It's always nice to see old friends that I only see once a year. I may not make it up the mountain in one complete hike since age has sort of caught up with me but may just stay down by a stream that runs along the swamp until about 10:00 AM and then head up the mountain. Lots of good memories there since 1969. I have taken around 34 deer in that corner of the woods and missed my share too. I have actually lost count. But the herd has deminished through the years and the herds of deer are just not there anymore. That's ok, I just like to be there. One day, in the not too distant future, I may just take that folding chair that is in the garage and sit along a tree line overlooking a field not too far from the barn. I have built three tree stands there in those woods through the years, but they are fairly well rotted now. Guess I will take the .30-06 and the .44 magnum. The weather is to be good for Monday but turning to rain by Tuesday according to the last report that I read. This guy doesn't hunt in the rain anymore. Just to be there is still fun.

It's a frosty and foggy 28* at the moment, with a forecast of around 38* later. I hope you all have a great weekend!

42* at 6:20 AM. finishing my coffee and getting ready to grab one of my varmint rifles and go try to call a red fox in. I called one out of the woods Thursday and muffed the shot by shooting at only a very small part of the fox instead of waiting on a better shot. All I got was a little hair off that one with my 220 Swift. I guess I educated that one and it probably learned very well.

Deadwood Dutch nice post and you hit the nail on the head for me. Just being there. I hadnt hunted in about 20 years and a good friend of mine lost his oldest son and his wife. He loved to hunt so I offered to go with him during our blackpowder season. We went for a week and had a blast fishing and hunting. We caught fish but couldnt get a shot at a deer or an elk. Just recently went again. It was cold as hell but we still just had fun being there. Didnt get one this time either. But look forward to the next. Al

Good morning everybody!

It's a lot warmer this morning at 36* and the sun is shining so it looks like it will be a good day to go to the range. I've had visitors for the past 4 days, and the guns have stayed in the cabinet so I'm starting to suffer from withdrawal symptoms!

19 ° clear and cold up here in East Tennessee. Working on my 2nd cup of dark roast, and using my USCG mug. No plans yet. That's the beauty of retirement.

My wife and I went to the city of Lethbridge yesterday and did some shopping. Got our Christmas tree, some new lights for it. Local Canadian Tire department store had a real nice selection of Henry rifles. Golden Boy, SGC, Frontier octagon, Mare's Legs and a real nice Big Boy "Cowboy" edition. Beautiful rifles. Maybe they can get the H011 1860 Original 45C when it becomes available in Canada next year.
Supposed to snow today, and time to put the Christmas tree up! Egg nog! I have a CD called "Gene Autry's Columbia Christmas Recordings" and it's always on while we decorate the tree. Tea time, have a great day folks.

You'll like it. It's a well told and exciting story of good overcoming evil. It's also a remake/adaption of a highly regarded Japanese movie written and directed by Akira Kurosawa that was filmed four years earlier, "The Seven Samurai".
