Do ya feel uneasy .....

Post by HenryFan » Sun Jun 23, 2024 8:58 am

....if you don't have a pocketknife on your person?

In the mornings, when I ready myself to leave the house, a pocketknife is as important to me as truck keys, wallet, sunglasses (important in South Carolina in the summer) and a cell phone. Actually, if I forget my cell phone, that's no problem, it gives me a period without junk calls.

Right now, it's a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife but often it's a German made Boker Tree Brand or a German made Puma folder or an USA made Buck folder.

I don't need a comfort animal if I have my pocketknife.

I have to say that you are right. I usually have a Victorinox Swiss tool in a pouch on my belt. If not, I have a Victorinox Swiss Army knife on my tractor keys. It has wooden scales. Otherwise it's some type of Buck knife. I usually always have some type of pocket or pouch knife with me. The Swiss tool is just so handy.
I also agree about the cell phone. If I forget it, it's just less things to bother me.

If I don't have a pocketknife on me it is because I left the house without trousers.

An old Victorinox Swiss Army knife has been on my belt when I hunt for years, not because I have ever dressed a deer with one but because it has a small scissors so useful for cutting month and date out of a South Carolina deer harvest tag. It is so much easier than using a Buck 110.

daytime dave is right-- The Swiss tool is just so handy.

Yeah I feel uneasy this morning....Could not sleep well after that big chocolate milkshake I had last night and now just dragging around. No more of those for me!
Now back to the knife... I have one in the truck for when I go to the range or just use it around the home.

For decades I carried a pocket knife as I would use one at work constantly. My place of employeement did not allow firearms on the premise so I didn’t carry at work. Now that I’m retired I always carry and have run out of pockets. Right front is my revolver, left front is my phone, right rear my wallet and left rear extra ammo on a speed strip and my keys. I know I can all a belt sheath knife but I don’t really have the need I used to for a knife. Now that being said, when I do need a knife it’s always a pain in the butt to go get one.

If I am dressed, there’s a pocketknife with me. A Leatherman is a constant passenger on my belt, as well.

When I drank milkshakes, I always liked strawberry milkshakes. I especially liked the McDonald's strawberry shake with a large order of salty fries!

I have carried a pocket knife since cub scouts. Was frowned upon ( but not disallowed ) in school so I didn't flash it. Very handy tool, use it most days. Last 10 years has been a Benchmade.

I already have too much in my pockets, lol. But I seem to always have had one in a tool box or a tool kit in every vehicle we have. So far so good, lol.

As far as Pocket Knives at schools, the school I went to had a Knife and Board game that we could use during the summer time activities.

I believe I'm showing my age, lol.

Every day for a couple of decades, I carried a Buck 301 that belonged to my late Father-in-law until, sadly, about two years ago, I lost it. I think it must have fallen to the ground while I was reaching for my keys somewhere. I don't really know where I lost it; but when it was no longer in my pocket, I searched for it high and low and everywhere for several days.

Ever since then, I've carried a two bladed Victorinox Swiss Army knife, and -- like the Buck -- I use it almost every day.

I surrendered my Craftsman Peanut pocketknife that I’ve had since the 70’s to airport security last fall when I forgot I had it in my pocket. I have a Victornox on both my Subaru and Ford keys which I have on me half of the time. And I have the Camping knife just inside the door on the house.

These knives I have in my tool box. So while I may not have a knife on me at home there is usually one nearby.

I carried a benchmade on duty for years, even though automatics were legal for us. Every now and then a dealer would offer a test and evaluation sample for me to carry, as an instructor I was a buyer for the department, though each officer purchased their own knives. What "I" chose could influence what they bought. I would give the T&E samples a fair evaluation, then go back to my Benchmade. Over those nearly fifteen years in Patrol Operations, I looked at Cold Steel, Smith and Wesson, Buck, and all the rest... but kept coming back.

I purchased the knife around 1995, and have used it ever since. I understand they are long since discontinued.
Too bad, a great knife. It still goes with me today every time I leave the house.

Ive always got my knife and its not alone. One thing I have carried these last few years is an Olight Baton 3. Its very bright and small enough you dont even know its there. Rechargeable and I cant tell you how handy it is to have a little light right in your pocket when ya cant see something for lack of light. One other thing is my Ruger LCRX 38 special. I dont leave home with out it

I always have my Victorinox APT Swiss tool on my belt. Not a day goes by that I don't use at least one of the tools.

I generally carry a Kershaw Leak or my relatively new Buck 112 slim. The Buck is a good bit larger and a little more work to open. The Leak is slim and trim and opens very fast.
