Coach do you know if California makes the credit card companies code your purchases on ammo guns ect? That law passed here in Colorado. It takes effect in May 0f 2025. Ill be buying more reloading supplies in the coming months to avoid this. I have accumulated a stock pile of ammo and supplies over a period of time. Even though I may have supplies to shoot for quit sometime i still care and I am strongly opposed to these stupid laws to limit our rights as gun owners. They want to track purchases so they know whos buying ammo. So what's the next step confiscation of the guns. Its coming.

Regardless of the CC reporting, CA does background checks to buy ammo. One for every caliber you purchase .

Yeah, Coach, those are certainly strict rules. But California is not your average commonwealth. It's the fifth largest economy in the world and has a population of more than 39 million. Lots of lives and money to manage and consider.

Things are different In CT. We're a small (but wealthy) state.

Here, only persons with state issued permits can buy firearms or ammunition and all permits require fingerprints and a one time background check by the FBI before they're issued.

The latest change to regulations in CT impacts person-to-person transfers of firearms, which now require an FFL intermediary. Previously, when selling or gifting a firearm, we'd simply make a call to a dedicated State Police phone number, where a Trooper checked the database for both the buyer and seller and then provided an approval code for the transfer (if no issues were recorded, of course).

When I bought my Uberti RanchHand 22LR revolver, I gave my brother my Heritage 22LR. We simply signed the usual transfer forms (which included that approval code) and we were done.

I expect the recent change was a cost savings measure for the State Police budget and not really a hardship for us. The FFL that I use charges $25 to file the paperwork and transfers happen within minutes.

Whats his name isnt good enough CGF. The 75 board members who voted and let this all go on need to go to. Especially with the ridiculous salarys. My lifetime membership to the NRA isnt worth the plastic its printed on. just my .02 worth

Firearms Policy Coalition. They are the outfit that won the pistol brace rule case for their client today in the 5th Circuit. And they ain't done yet. They don't get the press that NRA does, but they love gettin' down in the dirt and wrasslin' with the Feds and Governors like Newsom. And they have a pretty good win record. They are the ATF's worst legal nightmare.

I must say that I wanted a second bullet in case I lost the first one while kayaking or similar activities. Living in NY, I went to my favorite local gun store and asked for another bullet. There was a flat fee of just under $3.00 for the ammunition purchase and a background check to our state police. The same information is needed for a firearms check as an ammunition purchase check. The merchant must record what ammunition you purchase and they also ask your occupation. Both firearms and ammunition checks go to the state police. The firearms purchase is a flat fee just under $10.00. I guess it is cheaper to purchase more than one of each to keep the flat fees from adding up.
Well, I got caught up and got more than one bullet to save on fees. I now have one in each shirt pocket and one in my sock drawer.
I have a couple of acquaintances here in NY. It varies from place to place. Some shops have you fill out the Federal FFL form for the ammunition purchase as the questions are very similar and the government prints for forms for you. Some just ask you as they go along at the store, with your information being given to anyone within earshot. The transaction time is just about the same as the Federal check for most folks.
