42 this morning with bright sunshine. Saw a report on the morning news that even with all the rain we have had we’re still at less than 50% of norm every month but January and February. June is(was) looking good but now the extended forecast is for hot and dry.

With a forecast of 69 and sunny today is hit the golf course day. Noon tee off so we’ll be out in the nicest part of the day.

much cooler 51 degrees this morning with a bit of concern .... that being, "West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected" .... biggest thing I had in mind to do today is to cold smoke a variety of cheeses .... that has now become conditional depending on being able to position our Ninja Smoker so as to be safe from wind .... predicted high today of 66 and periods of light rain for at least the next 120 min

Woke up to 42 and sunny. High today might hit 80, 85 tomorrow and 90 by Saturday. I sensing a pattern here but thankfully we’re not expecting 95 on Sunday. Cooling down next week with highs in the lower 80’s. We’re leaving Tuesday for So California on a road trip with the motorhome and cooler temps will be welcome. Spending the second night in Sacramento where it could be in the 90’s. Weather at our destination (Malibu) looks to be in the 70’s. Great for the dogs.

I looked out the window and thought the rocks looked a little strange this morning.

Wow, 50 now with a high of 89. Summer is here. Nice cool down next week but we’ll be gone.

Today I’ll pull the motorhome out of the shop and my wife and I will give it a good cleaning in prep for our trip. Not leaving until Tuesday but might as well get started. Get it done early before it gets hot.

if Estelline, SD had a Chamber of Commerce, today would be one with their kind of weather ... while a bit overcast, no precip and high in the low 70's .... after two days with howling, strong, steady wind that included plenty of 50+ mph gust, the calm has been almost spooky .... not much excitement but it sure was nice to get some things done .... everything for regular camp chores to smoking more cheese has been more fun .... Maureen needed a trip to Brookings Walmart to pick up meds so I visited Lowe's (which is a couple of businesses down from Walmart) to pickup some hardware because I need to make a few mods to our grill cart .... that's a project I'm really looking forward to

Where are you headed Mike? I’ve got a few indoor projects for this week to stay out of the heat, and a couple of outdoor projects including a big wood shed for an elderly neighbor lady for the “cool” week.

Heading to Southern California. Visiting the kids/grandkids who just bought a home to retire in on Malibu beach. It’s a little fixer upper nestled in a bunch of beautiful homes according to the pictures. Also this will be the first long trip with the RV and the first Jeep tow. We’re keeping it short due to so much to do here at home. Eight nights, ten days. Lots of driving compressed into three days down and three days home.

47 with a beautiful blue sky and bright sun. Maybe a brief storm passing thru tomorrow otherwise nice late spring early summer weather. Today is more trip preps going thru everything in the rv. I already sorted thru the outside bins eliminating items not needed for this trip. All RV parks so no dry camping gear required.

Turtles, turtles everywhere. There are currently two in my yard digging nests and I know of at least four
nests from previous days. Last night the racoons found one next to the house in our Hosta beds and dug it
up leaving hollow eggs strewn all over.
It's like clockwork, the first 10 days of June is the nesting period for these creatures but I have never seen
so many as this year, and I have lived here for 40 years.
There once was a butcher who specialized in deer and moose during the Fall and grew strawberries all'
Summer. He would collect snapping turtles all Summer and keep them in a stock tank till Fall, and then
he would have a turtle feed. He made soup and deep fried all the different types of meat in them. I
tried it all and it was pretty good. Of course then the state came in and made them a protected species,
and he died as well, so that ended that.

Nice! I love it down there. Wife and I were married in Santa Barbara. We get down to Ventura County at least once a year.
