This song about sums it up what I need to do!

Dealing with my wife's Dementia and not letting the stress get to me. Making sure I have the keys to her car in my pocket at all times. Reminding her many times what day and month it is and making sure she takes the correct medications for her other issues and the list goes on.
Don't know where we will be in another year or two? Just a damn shame for this to happen to her and the spark of her personality is long gone...not the same person I have been with for 49 years. At night I sit in my room listening to early 70's music and look at pictures of what we once were and that helps.

She is lucky in the respect that she has you. You obviously love the lady and it speaks well of you.

Would it help to post a few of those photos on this thread with a short description of what's going on in them? That sort of thing is therapeutic for some and there are certainly some people here who would enjoy it.

If the photos aren't digital and if you have a smartphone, you can take a picture of the picture and then post that

Just an idea –- it won't offend me in the least if it doesn't appeal to you. Best wishes for everything to go as well as possible!

Dealt with dementia with my MIL for several years. It's tough for all concerned. Hang in there.

When she got to the point where she didn't recognize us, I found that showing her pictures from the past really helped. Unfortunately, that help was very short lived, but at least it made a difference for a little while.

My MIL had dementia and it got so bad she had to be put in an institution. My BIL tried to keep her in his home
but in the end he called Carol crying that he just couldn't keep it up. She wandered of often times during the
night and they'd have to go searching for her.
She finally was put in a nice facility that cared for memory loss folks and got along quite well there. When we'd
visit she usually recognized us, but they were busy playing children like games that she wanted to get back to.
She has passed now but she was a lovely lady and a nurse that raised eight children. She and I got along very
well.
It's very sad indeed that this happens to good folks. Hang in there Forty.

When I read your post forty I remembered some great pictures you posted a while back of you, her and your car. So sad to see the young vibrant attractive woman in the pictures end up in the condition she currently is. Sad for her and for you too and thankfully (I guess) while you have to deal with the issues hopefully she is oblivious and is at peace.

Best to you both!

Keep on smiling brother.

I went through this a few years ago with my dad. He was an incredibly smart and quick witted man, and a highly respected lawyer in our province. The hardest part was at the beginning where he was still with it most of the time, and could tell when he had lost the plot for a while. He ended up in a care facility as well and eventually passed. He did recognize us most of the time.

My thoughts are with you Forty!

Many thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Hopefully this condition will progress slowly and give her time to still enjoy life around her.
